  • Patent number: 4827613
Abstract: A shaving apparatus comprising a housing, a cutting plate and a cutting member which can be driven so as to be rotatable with respect to the cutting plate, said cutting member comprising a holder with cutting elements, said cutting elements comprising cutting sides at the radial ends. The holder comprises a bearing member in which the cutting elements are journalled so as to be rotatable as well as the positioning member for the cutting elements, the bearing member and the positioning member being rotatable with respect to each other and being coupled together by means of a resilient element.

  • Patent number: 4811483
Abstract: A dry-shaving apparatus comprises a longitudinally extending shear plate provided with hair-entry apertures; and an associated longitudinally extending cutter rotatable about an axis of rotation, such cutter including a spindle coaxially positioned with respect to the axis of rotation. The shear plate has a central portion shaped as a part of a cylindrical surface and formed with the hair-entry apertures, the central portion partly surrounding the cutter. Cutting elements movable relative to the cutter in a substantially radial direction are provided, each cutting element having a cutting edge at its radial end. More than two coaxial discs are axially spaced from each other and are formed with slots extending in a substantially radial direction, the coaxial discs being rigidly mounted on the spindle.

  • Patent number: 4811484
Abstract: A dry-shaving apparatus comprises a housing; a longitudinally extending shear plate; a holder for the shear plate, the holder being removable from the housing; and a longitudinally extending cutter rotatable relative to the shear plate. The cutter includes a carrier having cutting elements movable in a substantially radial direction relative to the carrier. Each cutting element has a cutting edge at its radial end, such radial ends being in contact with the shear plate during only a part of a revolution of the cutter and being clear of other parts of the apparatus during another part of the cutter revolution. A guide wall provided on the housing adjoins the shear plate, the radial ends of the cutting elements also being in contact during a further part of the cutter revolution with such guide wall.

  • Patent number: 4707915
Abstract: A dry-shaving apparatus comprises a housing having a holder for a shear plate with hair-entry apertures and a cutter which is rotatable about an axis of rotation and which comprises a carrier for cutting elements which are movable relative to the carrier, in which during rotation of the cutter, as part of a revolution, each point of a cutting edge at the end of a cutting element follows a constrained path which is defined by the shear plate and each point of a cutting edge follows a circular free path when the ends are clear of the shear plate. At the more advanced axial end of the first cutting element, viewed in the direction of rotation, the radius of a circular free path of the cutting edge is smaller than the distance from the axis of rotation to the corresponding portion of the shear plate at the location where at this end the free path changes into the constrained path, so that the cutter comes gradually into contact with the shear plate.

  • Patent number: 4281453
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a shaving apparatus having a shear plate with hair entry apertures and a drivable cutting unit with at least one cutting element provided with a cutting edge. Owing to the presence of the shear plate a shaving apparatus of this type does not allow the hairs to be shaved as closely to the skin as a shaving apparatus without such a shear plate, where the cutting element is in direct contact with the skin. In order to eliminate this drawback a construction is proposed in which the cutting element is provided with a hair pulling element which leads in the direction of the driving and which is immobile relative to the cutting element.

  • Patent number: 4250617
Abstract: There is provided a shaving apparatus having a holder for at least two and preferably three cutting units arranged in a triangular pattern therein. A raised portion extends over that area of the holder situated centrally with respect to the cutting units, such portion being raised with respect to the periphery of the holder. Desirably such raised portion of the holder gradually slopes downwardly towards the periphery of the holder. An adjustable skin-tautening device is mounted at the periphery of the holder.

  • Patent number: 4168570
Abstract: A shaving apparatus comprises a shaving cap provided with a flange extending outwardly within a housing; a cutting member rotatable relative to the shaving cap and spring-urged into engagement therewith, such shaving cap being inwardly depressable against the spring; two diametrically opposite stops provided in the housing adjacent the flange; and a third stop provided in the housing also adjacent the flange, whereby the cap can be pivoted about the diametrically opposite stops.
