Patent number: 12591337Abstract: A method is presented for processing input at a touch-sensitive display device. A touch input to the touch-sensitive display device is recognized. Based at least on a first set of features extracted from the recognized touch input, a first likelihood that the recognized touch input is unintentional is determined and compared to a first confidence threshold. Responsive to the first likelihood being less than the first confidence threshold, a second likelihood that the recognized touch input is unintentional is determined. The second likelihood is based on at least a second set of features extracted from outputs of one or more additional sensors. An aggregate likelihood that the recognized touch input is unintentional is then determined based on at least the first likelihood, the first set of features, and the second likelihood. Responsive to the aggregate likelihood being greater than a second confidence threshold, the touch input is arrested.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2023Date of Patent: March 31, 2026Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Gilad Pundak, Hanan Grinberg, Eran Arbel

Patent number: 12375844Abstract: A method of using an earbud to maintain a user's authenticated session comprises, after establishing a user's first authenticated session in a first computing device, broadcasting an initial ultrasonic signal from a speaker of the earbud. At least a subsequent ultrasonic echo signal that is received at an in-ear microphone of the earbud is analyzed to determine if the earbud is located in an ear of the user. The method determines that the earbud is within a predetermined distance of the second computing device. At least on condition of determining that the earbud is located in the ear of the user and that the earbud is within the predetermined distance of the second computing device, a user's second authenticated session in a second computing device is established.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2022Date of Patent: July 29, 2025Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Eran Arbel, Gilad Pundak, Liran Lipa Lyabock

Patent number: 11899855Abstract: The disclosure herein describes changing a mode of operation of a computing device using signals from a pen device. The pen device obtains gesture input data from at least one sensor of the pen device and the obtained gesture input data is compared to at least one gesture pattern. Based on the gesture input data matching the at least one gesture pattern, the pen device transitions to an active state. The pen device detects, via an electrostatic communication channel, an uplink signal from the computing device and sends a signal to change a mode of operation of the computing device by at least one of a network interface or a communication channel, other than the electrostatic communication channel. Changing modes of operation of a computing device provides a flexible, stream-lined way to enhance the user experience of using a computing device with a pen device (e.g., performing an initial pairing process).Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2022Date of Patent: February 13, 2024Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Ilan Geller, Nadav Linenberg, Eran Arbel, Uri Ron, Amir Zyskind

Patent number: 11656678Abstract: An electronic device detects a user presence in a first distance range from a user detection sensor of an electronic device. The electronic device communicates with multiple input components, setting the electronic device to a first device state based on detecting a user presence in the first distance range. The first device state applies a scanning rate to a first input component. The electronic device also detects a user presence in a second distance range from the user detection sensor of the electronic device while the electronic device is in the first device state. The electronic device sets the electronic device to a second device state, based on detecting a user presence in the second distance range while the electronic device is in the first device state. The second device state applies a different scanning rate to the first input component than in the first device state.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2022Date of Patent: May 23, 2023Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Gilad Pundak, Shoham Dekel, Eran Arbel
