Patent number: 12248636Abstract: A head-wearable audio device has a motion sensor that outputs motion parameter values based on a detected motion gesture. A gesture type is recognized by comparing the motion parameter values and per-user per-gesture-type recognition parameter values. An action is selected based on the selected gesture type and is executed by the head-wearable audio device or an application in a remote computing device. The head-wearable audio device may also include a capacitive touch sensor that detects capacitive touch events and outputs capacitive touch parameter values. A gesture type may be recognized by comparing both of detected motion parameter values and detected capacitive touch parameter values with per-user per-gesture-type recognition parameter values. The per-user per-gesture-type recognition parameter values are improved over time using machine learning and/or automated logic based on historical detected motion or capacitive touch parameters and corresponding selected gestures, or user profile data.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2022Date of Patent: March 11, 2025Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLCInventors: Eran Chencinski, Shoham Dekel, Shmuel Kaufman-Fridman

Publication number: 20240259754Abstract: A wearable device is provided, including an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and a processing device. The processing device is configured to receive acceleration data from the accelerometer, receive orientation data from the gyroscope, and receive simulated magnetometer data from an offboard computing device. Based at least in part on the acceleration data, the orientation data, and the simulated magnetometer data, the processing device is further configured to perform motion tracking calibration to obtain an estimated position and orientation of the wearable device relative to the offboard computing device. The processing device is further configured to output the estimated position and orientation to an additional computing process.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 30, 2023Publication date: August 1, 2024Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Eran CHENCINSKI, Daniel SPIVAK, Shoham DEKEL

Patent number: 12022535Abstract: A computing device comprises a logic subsystem and a storage subsystem holding instructions executable by the logic subsystem to transmit a first identifier of the computing device to a separate electronic device, the first identifier being transmitted during one time frame of a plurality of sequential time frames. A second identifier of the computing device is transmitted to the electronic device, the second identifier including more data than the first identifier, the second identifier being transmitted over two or more time frames of the plurality of sequential time frames. An electronic pairing is established between the computing device and the electronic device based at least in part on one or both of the first and second identifiers, the electronic pairing enabling receiving of control inputs from the electronic device at the computing device.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2021Date of Patent: June 25, 2024Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Arie Yehuda Gur, Nadav Linenberg, Eran Chencinski, Uri Ron

Patent number: 11614825Abstract: An active stylus includes a stylus tip and a pressure sensor disposed proximate to the stylus tip. A stylus controller is configured to receive, from the pressure sensor, a current pressure value quantifying a pressure measured at the stylus tip. The stylus controller receives, from a separate display device, a proximity indicator that indicates a current estimated proximity of the stylus tip to a surface of a touch-sensitive display of the display device. Based at least on both of (1) the proximity indicator received from the separate display device, and (2) a comparison between the current pressure value and a touch input pressure threshold, the stylus controller sends a touch status indicator to the separate display device.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2021Date of Patent: March 28, 2023Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Arie Yehuda Gur, Amir Zyskind, On Haran, Nadav Linenberg, Eran Chencinski, Roy Gan Maiberger, Uri Ron, Vadim Mishalov
