Abstract: A computer-implemented method for providing patient information during surgery is presented. The method includes activating a camera configured to be worn on a user's head in response to input from the user and receiving from the camera a first image of a visual identifier associated with a patient. The method also includes processing, at a processor configured to be worn on the user's head, the image to determine a unique patient identifier encoded in the visual identifier and retrieving medical information associated with the unique patient identifier from a centralized information source that includes a patient record containing the medical information. The medical information associated with the unique patient identifier is presented on a display configured to be worn on the user's head and confirmation of the medical information is received from the user.
