The radiation of the pulsed first seed laser source (11) is amplified by stimulated emission of the rare earth ions so that the threshold for stimulated Raman scattering into the mode of the second seed laser source 13 is exceeded, and efficient SRS transfers nearly all the power into the mode seeded by the second seed laser source (13).
