  • Patent number: 11529176
Abstract: A bone plate having at least one variable angle locking hole is described. The variable angle locking hole allows a bone anchor having a threaded head to be driven into underlying bone while oriented at an angle with respect to a central hole axis of the hole that is within a range of angles at which the head is configured to threadedly mate with the at least one thread of the bone plate. Accordingly, the bone anchor can be driven into the underlying bone until the threaded head threadedly purchases with the bone plate inside the variable angle locking hole.

  • Publication number: 20220338901
Abstract: Disclosed are medical devices for surgical procedures, especially procedures that involve the manipulation of surgical instrument end effectors close to the skin surface at an incision site. In accordance with some embodiments, an instrument access device is configured to couple to a wound retractor at a distal end of the device and to receive a multiple instrument entry guide in a port at the proximal end of the instrument access device, with an envelope between the distal and proximal ends defining a sealed cavity for maintaining insufflation pressure. Various embodiments provide means for rotating an assistant port in the envelope about a port that receives the instrument entry guide without twisting the envelope. Also disclosed are various envelope shapes. Also disclosed is an instrument entry guide that aligns surgical instrument shafts.

  • Publication number: 20220331025
Abstract: A computer-assisted medical system includes a robotic manipulator arm configured to support an instrument. The instrument includes an instrument shaft and jaws disposed at a distal end of the instrument shaft. The computer-assisted medical system further includes a controller coupled to the manipulator arm. The controller includes a computer processor and is configured to track a movement of the instrument along an insertion axis of the instrument, and coordinate a size of a jaw aperture defined by the jaws with the movement of the instrument along the insertion axis to reach a target aperture.

  • Publication number: 20220331485
Abstract: A cryopreserved cartilage product is disclosed. The cryopreserved cartilage product can include a partially digested cryopreserved natural cartilage collagen matrix isolated from a subject. The collagen matrix can include viable cells embedded within the collagen matrix that are native to the collagen matrix and that were embedded in the collagen matrix when the collagen matrix was isolated from the subject, at least 70% of the embedded cells native to the collagen matrix can be viable in the cryopreserved cartilage product, and the partially digested collagen matrix can retain interaction between the collagen matrix and the native cells.

  • Patent number: 11419642
Abstract: A percutaneous access device includes an inner tube and an outer tube disposed about at least a portion of the inner tube. The outer tube may be sized to span from a skin incision in a patient to a site proximate the spine of the patient. The distal end of the outer tube may be adapted to releasably engage a bone anchor. The inner tube may be adjustable relative to the outer tube between a first position and a second position in which the distal end of the inner tube contacts the bone anchor. A bone anchor assembly includes a bone anchor having a distal bone engaging portion and a receiving member having a recess for receiving a spinal fixation element. The proximal end of the receiving member may have an arcuate groove formed on an exterior surface thereof to facilitate connection of an instrument to the receiving member.

  • Patent number: 11413373
Abstract: This invention provides disrupted cartilage products, methods of manufacturing disrupted cartilage products, and methods of treating a subject comprising administering a cartilage product. The cartilage products are manufactured by a method comprising disrupting a collagen matrix, e.g. to produce a flexible cartilage product. Optionally, the cartilage products comprise viable chondrocytes, bioactive factors such as chondrogenic factors, and a collagen type II matrix. Optionally, the cartilage products are non-immunogenic.
