    Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for separating a channel and data without the use of reference signals. For example, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may determine a first orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol based on a data vector. The WTRU may determine a second OFDM symbol by applying a circular time-inverse operation and a conjugate operation to the first OFDM symbol. The WTRU may send the first OFDM symbol and the second OFDM symbol. The first and the second OFDM symbols may be sent to consecutively. Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT)-spread and nonlinear preprocessing (exponential transformation at the transmitter) may be used and/or peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) may be reduced via randomizer block at the receiver.

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive control information including a number of scheduled resource blocks (RBs) then determine a PT-RS density based on the number of scheduled RBs. The WTRU may determine a RB offset value for the WTRU based on a WTRU-ID modulo the maximum RB offset value, where the maximum value for the RB offset value may be based on at least one of the number of the scheduled RBs and the PT-RS density. The WTRU may then transmit or receive a signal with PT-RS based on the RB offset value.

If the carrier or carrier group does not have a valid uplink grant, the power headroom may be calculated based on a reference grant. The power headroom is calculated by a wireless transmit/receive unit and is reported to an eNodeB.

NOMA may be applied to asynchronous and/or grant-free transmissions. Transmissions from multiple WTRUs may be performed using the same resources, and may comprise information for correctly identifying and decoding the transmissions. The transmissions may comprise a built-in deterministic sequence to support timing acquisition at a receiver. The transmissions may be distinguished based on respective transmit power used for the transmissions. Such transmit power may be dynamically controlled by applying a randomly selected power offset. The power control may be performed autonomously by a WTRU.

    Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may, in a first codeword, map a first set of bits to a higher order modulation scheme and a second set of bits to a lower order scheme. The WTRU may then transmit the first set of bits in the first codeword at a first allocated power and the second set of bits in the first codeword at a second allocated power. In an example, the second allocated power may be great than the first allocated power. Further, the WTRU may determine the second allocated power based on power boosting the first allocated power. In another example, the WTRU may receive an assignment message from a base station including instructions regarding partition determination and resource assignment.     Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing pulse shaping using different windowing functions for different sub-bands of a transmission is disclosed. A method for use in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may include the WTRU receiving data symbols. The WTRU may assign the data symbols to a plurality of subcarriers in different sub-bands and map the data symbols on each of the plurality of subcarriers in the different sub-bands to a plurality of corresponding subcarriers of an inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) block. The WTRU may take an IFFT of the block for each sub-band and pad an output of the IFFT block with a prefix and a postfix for each sub-band. The WTRU may apply a windowing function to an output of the padding for each sub-band and form a composite signal for transmission by adding an output of the windowing of each sub-band. The WTRU may transmit the signal.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described herein for transmit diversity in an uplink control channel. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may perform a Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) precoding operation on a data symbol sequence segment to generate a DFT precoded segment. The WTRU may then perform a Space Frequency Block Coding (SFBC) operation on the DFT precoded segment to generate a SFBC processed segment. The data symbols of the DFT precoded segment may be reordered in the SFBC processed segment. The WTRU may map the DFT precoded segment to a first set of contiguous subcarriers and the SFBC processed segment to a second set of contiguous subcarriers. The WTRU may then transmit a first DFT spread Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (DFT-s-OFDM) signal on the first set of contiguous subcarriers via a first antenna port and a second DFT-s-OFDM signal on the second set of contiguous subcarriers via a second antenna port.
