    Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of making an automotive part having a spline. Preferably, the automotive part is a high strength automotive part having a relatively high carbon content. The method includes pressing a spline tool having one or more spline grooves into a bore defined by the automotive part so that one or more splines are formed through the displacement of material on the interior of the bore.
