  • Patent number: 4730664
Abstract: In a cooling system for floatable and/or submersible motor vehicles having a liquid-cooled engine the radiator (1) is accommodated in a chamber (2), which during land travel is flown through by air supplied by a fan (V) and which admits water when the vehicle is submerged or floating. In order to decrease the loss of buoyancy when the vehicle is floating or submerged and to reduce any lateral shifting of weight, the chamber (2) contains a partition (5), which divides the heat exchange surfaces of the radiator into two sections at least on the cold side. The air supply duct (6) opens into the preferably larger compartment (2a), which is disposed on one side of the partition and provided with flow passages (8), which lead to the outside and are adapted to be closed. The other compartment (2b) is preferably smaller and is adapted to be shut off from the compartment (2a) and is the only compartment which is floodable.

  • Patent number: 4602604
Abstract: An air compressing reciprocating in-line compression-ignition internal combustion engine comprises for each cylinder a fuel injection unit comprising a fuel injection pump and a fuel injection nozzle. Each fuel injection unit is operated by a camshaft via a rocker lever and a cam follower roller mounted on said lever. The camshaft is rotatably mounted between the cylinders in transverse walls provided on the cylinder heads. The camshaft carries injection control cams and valve control cams for actuating the gas exchange valves by means of cam follower levers, which are pivoted at one end to the cylinder head and at the other end engage the gas exchange valves and are provided with cylindrically curved engaging surfaces for contacting the valve control cams.

  • Patent number: 4591349
Abstract: A universal joint transmission for a rearwards gear transmission that has a shaft which is in driving engagement with the interior of the receiving hub of the universal joint, but is movable longitudinally relative to the receiving hub, the transmission including a driving gear hub which is hollow, and which adjoins the receiving hub, its interior forming with the inside of the receiving hub a space in which the shaft extends from the gear hub into the receiving hub, the driving coupling member of the universal joint being in driving connection with the gear hub, the gear hub and a ring member of the coupling device of the universal joint being formed internally flaring outwardly to provide for easy pivoting of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4335686
Abstract: An inlet valve, an outlet valve and a pump cam are formed on a camshaft. The pump cam is disposed between and axially spaced from the inlet and outlet valve cams. An inlet valve tappet and an outlet valve tappet have end faces engaging said inlet and outlet valve cams, respectively. A cam follower is operable by the pump cam to control a fuel injection pump. A plane which is normal to the axis of said camshaft and defines the axial extent of said pump cam toward one of said tappets intersects said end face of said one tappet to define a line of intersection, whereby said pump has an overlapping portion, which axially overlaps said one tappet, and the axial projection of the periphery of said overlapping portion lies entirely within an envelope which is generated by said line of intersection around said pump cam as said camshaft is rotated.
