  • Publication number: 20230112695
Abstract: Methods and systems, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium are described for generating data used to simulate properties of a target area in a subterranean region. A system obtains data describing a water-hydrocarbon interface of the target area and selects control parameters for processing the data based on a formation mechanism corresponding to a pressure or temperature of the target area. An objective function is determined that measures a delta between first values observed in the data and second values from simulations of the target area. Based on outputs of the function, the system calculates values for the control parameters that minimizes the delta between the first values observed in the data and the second values from simulations of the target area. The input data is generated to simulate properties of the target area based on calculated values of the control parameters.

  • Patent number: 11073637
Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods and systems, including computer-implemented methods, computer program products, and computer systems, for models the accumulation and migration of hydrocarbons. One computer-implemented method includes: identifying one of grid cells neighboring an accumulation as a recent back-filled grid cell; setting an oil phase potential of identified grid cell as an accumulation potential of the accumulation; comparing oil phase potentials of grid cells neighboring the recent back-filled grid cell with the accumulation potential of the accumulation, where the oil phase potential of each of the grid cells neighboring the recent back-filled grid cell is stored as a key in the node corresponding to the respective grid cell; selecting one of the grid cells neighboring the accumulation as a next back-filled grid cell; and updating the accumulation potential of the accumulation based on the oil phase potential of the selected grid cell.

  • Publication number: 20070087264
Abstract: A system and a method of storage and dissolution of solid catholyte are provided. The system and the method employ a solid medium having a controlled surface from which solid catholyte particles suspended within a matrix of encapsulating species are dissolved and hydrolyzed producing-hydrogen peroxide to be used in semi fuel cells of undersea vehicles. Encapsulating species are also dissolved and hydrolyzed rendering products completely usable in the semi fuel cell. Sodium peroxide is preferably used as the solid catholyte and potassium superoxide and/or sodium hydroxide are preferably used as encapsulating species.

  • Publication number: 20060172165
Abstract: A new semi-fuel cell design that incorporates ion exchange membranes to create separate compartments for the anolyte and catholyte to flow through the semi-fuel cell thereby isolating the metal anode of the bipolar electrode from the catholyte while still allowing the necessary ion transfer to affect the necessary electrochemical balance for the reaction to take place in the semi-fuel cell.

  • Publication number: 20050266161
Abstract: A method is provided for the fabrication of a fibrous structure. Fibers are deposited in a hopper connected to an electrode. A mesh covers the hopper opening and the hopper is inverted and suspended over an adhesive coated substrate. An electric field is generated between the hopper and the substrate while the hopper is simultaneously shaken. As a result, fibers fall through the mesh, aligned along the electric field lines, travel through the electric field, and are coupled on one end thereof to the adhesive.

  • Patent number: 5877778
Abstract: A method and system for manipulating and mixing previously stored motion units for computer articulated figure animation. The motion units are combined in a weighted average. The weights give a priority to certain joint rotations of a motion unit which constitute the essence of that motion unit. The motion units can be mixed in an asynchronous fashion, with no limit on the number of motion units that can be mixed together. Phrasing control assigns a weight to each frame in a motion unit, and eases the transitions at the beginning and end of a motion unit. Frame-to-frame smoothing is also used. Fatigue of an articulated figure is simulated by the addition of a "tired" motion unit.
