Abstract: A cartridge assembly for a track chain is disclosed. The cartridge assembly includes a pin that has a lubricant channel therein. The pin is accommodated in an inner bushing that also has a channel extending therethrough for accommodating the pin. The pin extends beyond either end of the inner bushing. The pin and inner bushing are partially disposed in an outer bushing that also has a channel for accommodating the pin in inner bushing. The ends of the inner bushing and pin extend beyond the ends of the outer bushing. First and second inserts are disposed at either end of the inner bushing. The first and second inserts are disposed between the outer bushing and a pair of opposing collars which are disposed on the ends of the pin beyond the inserts and beyond the ends of the inner bushing. The inserts and collars each include seals. The seals of the collars are supported by one or more thrust rings as opposed to the inserts or partially by the inserts.

  • Publication number: 20160177542
Abstract: System and methods for determining wear of a rotational component of an undercarriage for a machine are disclosed. One method includes determining a rotational speed of a drive sprocket of the undercarriage, determining a rotational speed of the rotational component, determining a size parameter of the rotational component based on at least the determined rotational speed of the drive sprocket and the determined rotational speed of the rotational component, and determining the wear of the rotational component based on the determined size parameter of the rotational component.

  • Patent number: 9333999
Abstract: A seal packing guard is provided in a roller assembly of a machine, such as a track carrier roller of a track-type undercarriage. The roller assembly includes a roller mounted on a shaft and having a seal retaining lubricant between the roller and the shaft. A collar and an inner surface of the roller form a seal cavity placing the seal in fluid communication with an ambient atmosphere surrounding the roller. The seal packing guard is attached to an outward surface of the roller and extends over an opening into the seal cavity to reduce the amount of abrasive material entering the seal cavity and potentially compromising the integrity of the seal.

  • Publication number: 20160090135
Abstract: An example track assembly in accordance with the present disclosure may include a pin, a bushing, a link, and a seal. The pin may define an axis, and may include opposing ends. The bushing may be positioned about the pin, and may include opposing ends. The link may have an inner face extending radially from the axis and defined by at least three portions. The three portions may include a recessed portion disposed between two non-recessed portions. The recessed portion may have a recessed face. The seal may be disposed at least partially within the recessed portion of the link. The seal may engage the recessed face of the link and may engage an end of the bushing such that a gap exists between the inner face of the link and the end of the bushing.

  • Publication number: 20160031498
Abstract: A method of reducing noise on an idler wheel of a track type tractor is provided. The idler wheel includes a tread surface and a retaining surface on an outer periphery. The method includes machining the tread surface to a depth less than a predefined tolerance limit. The method further includes forming a metal mesh on the tread surface wherein the metal mesh is structured to define space between the tread surface and metal mesh to form a three dimensional structure. The method includes filling the space between the three dimensional structure and the tread surface with a noise reducing material to a predefined height.

  • Patent number: 8985590
Abstract: A seal assembly can be incorporated into a track pin cartridge assembly of an undercarriage of a track-type machine. The seal assembly can include a pin defining a longitudinal axis and first and second members both coaxial with the pin about the longitudinal axis. The first member is pivotable about the longitudinal axis with respect to the second member and includes a load ring engagement surface defining a seal cavity disposed in proximal relationship to the second member. A seal assembly, including a seal ring and a load ring, is disposed in the seal cavity and sealingly engages the first and second members. A radial segment of a first member engagement surface of the load ring is radially offset, measured along a radial axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, from a radial segment of a seal ring engagement surface of the load ring.
