  • Publication number: 20190140194
Abstract: An OLED structure including a first organic layer disposed between the anode and the cathode is disclosed. The first organic layer includes a primary phosphorescent emitter and a first host, and where one of the following conditions is true: (1) the first organic layer further includes a secondary emitter; or (2) the OLED further includes a second organic layer disposed between the anode and the cathode, wherein the second organic layer includes a secondary emitter. The phosphorescent emitter has a peak emission wavelength ?max that is ?600 nm and ?750 nm, the secondary emitter has a peak emission wavelength ?max that is ?750 nm, and the first host has a lowest excited state triplet energy T1 that is at least 0.1 eV higher than that of the primary phosphorescent emitter.

  • Publication number: 20190140191
Abstract: A compound having a metal coordination complex structure, where the compound is capable of functioning as a phosphorescent emitter in an organic light emitting device at room temperature is disclosed. The compound has a first ligand coordinated to a metal. The free-state of the first ligand has a first triplet energy T1 of EL at 77K, while the compound has a first triplet energy T1 of E at 77K, and the difference in energy (?E) between E and EL is ?250 meV. The compound has a triplet emission spectrum with a FWHM value of no more than 45 nm. Organic light emitting devices, consumer products, and formulations containing the compounds are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20190074449
Abstract: Compounds that are organic radicals that can have a dual function. The compounds can be fluorescent emitters that emit in the near-IR. The compounds can also facilitate reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) to convert triplet excitons in an OLED to singlet excited states to maximize utilization of generated excitons in the OLED and approach 100% internal quantum efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20180237463
Abstract: A compound having the formula Ir(LA)n(LB)3-n, having the structure Formula I, is disclosed. In Formula I, Z1, Z2, Z3, and Z4 each independently are N or CR2; X is O, S, or Se; n is an integer from 1 to 3; R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 each independently represent mono- to a maximum possible number of substitutions, or no substitution; R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 are each independently selected from a variety of substituents; any two substitutions in R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 are optionally joined to form a ring; at least one pair of substitutions in R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 are joined together to form a bridge structure comprising a backbone structure that forms a fused first ring, which can be further substituted; and the backbone structure is saturated. Organic light emitting devices and consumer products containing the compounds are also disclosed.
