  • Patent number: 12659227
Abstract: Described herein are devices, systems, methods, and processes for managing power congestion in multi-path routing systems. Indications may be similar to the ECN, and may be used in network headers, including headers for IPv6, SRv6, NSH, or other tunneling protocols. The indications, namely EOPN, PTE, and ECMP-exclude, can provide a mechanism for managing network power consumption and controlling ECMP routing based on flow priority and characteristics. The power budget can be dynamically adjusted based on the current power source mix, which may help to achieve sustainability goals. Hashing optimizations and signaling can be utilized to manage network power congestion and bandwidth-normalized power efficiency availability. A process may be implemented to ensure there is sufficient capacity to serve the expected traffic for different next-hop paths.

  • Patent number: 12615196
Abstract: Techniques for tuning resource capacity for a network device are described. A component resource manager receives an expected utilization of the resource during a utilization volatility period from an auto energizing infrastructure. The utilization volatility period is a period of time during which a chance of a utilization increase of the resource is within a predetermined threshold. The component resource manager receives a calculation of a maximum potential capacity delta for the expected utilization of the resource during the utilization volatility period from the auto energizing infrastructure. Based on the expected utilization and the maximum potential capacity delta, the component resource manager determines the right-size capacity of the resource for the utilization volatility period. The right-size capacity is at least an amount of the resource needed to ensure proper network functioning.

  • Publication number: 20260081797
Abstract: Devices, systems, methods, and processes for controlling dynamic disablement and re-enablement of an Energy Efficient Ethernet (“EEE”) feature in network devices are described herein. In a network device, the EEE feature is default enabled on each port. A link partner associated with a port is detected and a set of EEE parameters associated with the link partner is determined. The set of EEE parameters includes an EEE capability of the link partner and/or a link quality of a link between the port and the link partner. The EEE feature on the port is disabled on the port based on the link quality being below a threshold, the EEE capability being disabled, the EEE capability being different from that of the port, or the EEE capability being disagreed between the network device and the link partner. The EEE feature is reenabled a predefined time period after the disablement.

  • Publication number: 20260075517
Abstract: Various methods, systems, and/or processes are described herein that can operate on a minimally energized power level to detect motion and paths of motion within an environment. A device suitable for carrying out these operations may include an energization optimization logic which can be responsible for selecting a floorplan, identifying access points associated with the floorplan, determining identities, such as persons, located within the floorplan, and tracking their motion. Once this information is gathered, the logic determines a reduced power configuration and passes it to various access points in the floorplan area to reduce the energy consumption based on the configuration. This allows for energy optimization while still maintaining the tracked motion of the identities within the floorplan. The logic allows for efficient power usage in areas with high traffic flow, while still maintaining the quality of service for the identities within the space, which can change dynamically over time.

  • Publication number: 20260050314
Abstract: Devices, systems, methods, and processes for operating a plurality of power supplies of a network device using cold redundancy are described herein. Traditionally, redundant power supplies are operated in parallel with primary power supplies, thus making power supply system less efficient. To address these issues, the present disclosure describes a digital mechanism of cold redundancy to manage the activity states of redundant power supplies. Each power supply is connected by a communication line configured to carry operational signals at a low frequency. In response to surge in load demand, a primary power supply may transmit high frequency cold redundancy signals to one or more redundant power supplies. The cold redundancy signals may be transmitted as superimposed signal over the communication line. At the receiving end, the superimposed signal is passed through a high-pass filter and a low-pass filter to segregate the cold redundancy signals and the communication line operational signals.

  • Publication number: 20260039134
Abstract: Devices, systems, methods, and processes for dynamically controlling power supplied from power supply units (PSUs) and battery units of network devices are described herein. Generally, network devices rely on redundant power supplies or large hold-up capacitors to address power supply issues. Redundant power supplies lead to sub-optimal efficiency, while hold-up capacitors lead to bulky network device taking up space within the PSUs. Therefore, the present disclosure describes disposing one or more battery units in linecard slots or PSU slots. The battery unit may provide redundancy for the power supply and can act as an effective filter for power signal fluctuations. The battery units and the PSUs are dynamically controlled based on a load demand associated with the network device and power supply sources connected to the network device. Thus, the battery unit actively participates in load sharing with the PSUs to operate the PSUs more efficiently.

  • Publication number: 20250392512
Abstract: Devices, systems, methods, and processes for managing network devices through generated predictions and associated confidence levels are described herein. Networks within a floorplan can be operated at full capacity all day in an inefficient way when not adjusted due to traffic patterns and seasonality changes. Data related to the topology of the network, along with historical data can be utilized to generate predictions of various network needs. For example, the overall network throughput capacity needs may be predicted for a series of points in the future. An associated confidence level can be generated as well including one or more confidence intervals. These can be utilized to select a future need for the network and generate a corresponding sustainable network configuration for the network devices and/or their transceivers that can provide sufficient network needs while minimizing the overall power used. This can be automated over time once trust has been established.

  • Publication number: 20250385519
Abstract: Devices, networks, systems, methods, and processes for delivering power to a plurality of powered devices in a network are described herein. A controller may receive a lease request from a powered device. The controller can extract one or more requested parameters from the lease request. The controller can determine one or more device parameters associated with the powered device and one or more dynamic lease conditions associated with a power resource. If the one or more device parameters and/or the one or more requested parameters meet the one or more dynamic lease conditions, the controller can grant the lease request. The controller may deliver power to the powered device upon the grant of the lease request. The controller can dynamically update the one or more dynamic lease conditions and monitor the lease to check whether the lease complies with the one or more updated dynamic lease conditions.

  • Publication number: 20250373537
Abstract: Devices, systems, methods, and processes for energy scoring of network paths are described herein. Various network paths, each including one or more hops, may be identified in a network. Presence of additional hops in each network path may be determined. From the identified and determined hops, a set of hops may be determined for energy score determination. For each selected hop, a set of energy parameters may be determined and one or more weights may be assigned to the determined set of energy parameters. A weight may correspond to a level of confidence in or an accuracy of the energy parameter determination. An energy score of each network path may be determined based on the determined set of energy parameters and the assigned one or more weights. One network path may be selected based on the energy scores and traffic may be routed along the selected network path.

  • Patent number: 12418421
Abstract: Techniques for using Network Address Translation (NAT), Mobile Internet Protocol (MIP), and/or other techniques in conjunction with Domain Name System (DNS) to anonymize server-side addresses in data communications and verify an authenticity of a client device attempting to use a virtual IP (VIP) address. Rather than having DNS provide a client device with an IP address of an endpoint device, such as a server, the DNS instead returns a VIP address that is mapped to the client device and the endpoint device. The client device may then communicate data packets to the server using the VIP address as the destination address, and a virtual network service that works in conjunction with DNS can verify an authenticity of the client device and convert the VIP address to the actual IP address of the server using NAT and forward the data packet onto the server.
