The fluid collection system also includes a controller (112) operatively coupled to the sensor, the controller configured to communicate at least one of the property or the status of the fluid collection system to a computing device (114).

Abstract: A portable urine collection system (200) may include a urine collection device, a conduit (217) in fluid communication with the urine collection device (212), a urine collection container (214) having an interior region, a pump (216), and a container support (202). The pump is in fluid communication with the urine collection container and is configured to pull a vacuum on the interior region of the urine collection container effective to draw urine from the urine collection device through the conduit into the urine collection container. The container support is configured to detachably secure to a wheelchair and support at least the urine collection container.

In an embodiment, a fluid collection assembly includes a fluid collection device and means for securing the fluid collection device to the user with a fluid permeable body of the fluid collection device positioned proximate to the urethra of the user through the opening in a fluid impermeable barrier of the fluid collection device.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to fluid collection devices, systems, and methods utilizing retention components for retaining the fluid collection device in position during use. In an embodiment, a fluid collection device is disclosed. The fluid collection device includes a fluid impermeable barrier at least partially defining an interior chamber and an opening through which the interior chamber is exposed to an external environment. The fluid collection device includes a fluid permeable body positioned at least partially within the interior chamber to extend across at least a portion of the opening and configured to wick fluid away from the opening. The fluid collection device includes one or more retention components for retaining the fluid collection device on labia of a wearer by engaging with one or more of legs, pelvis, or buttocks of the wearer. The fluid collection device includes a conduit extending into the interior chamber.

Abstract: Examples relate to systems, devices, and methods utilizing means for securing a protruding portion of a fluid permeable body disposed between a wearer's labia in position during use. The protruding portion is formed from fluid permeable material that allows urine or other fluids to pass therethrough. The fluid permeable body is disposed at least partially within a fluid impermeable barrier to prevent leakage of the fluid. The fluid is removed through a conduit disposed in a chamber within the fluid impermeable barrier.

An example fluid collection assembly includes a fluid impermeable barrier. The fluid impermeable barrier includes a sump and a base. For example, the sump may protrude outwardly from the base. The sump defines an opening and a chamber. The fluid collection assembly may include at least one porous material disposed in the chamber that at least partially covers the opening, such as a fluid permeable membrane extending across at least a portion of the opening and a support disposed in the chamber. The fluid collection assembly may also include an adhesive layer disposed on the base that is configured to secure the rest of the fluid collection assembly to at least a portion of a pubic region of an individual. Further, the fluid collection assembly may include a fluid outlet.
