  • Publication number: 20080184476
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel lifting and stowing device for a cover [1100] for a spa or tub [20]. Cover [1100] has a near piece [1110] a central piece [1130] and a far piece [1150] which fold and are stored in a compact position out of the way against the side of tub [20]. The invention [1000] employs a multi-link frame [1300] supporting the cover [1100] designed to lift and fold the cover pieces out of the way. Multi-link frame [1300] employs a main lift [1330] and a secondary lift [1350] of either side of a top edge [23] of tub [20]. Lifts [1330, 1350] retract in a scissor-like fashion to fold cover near piece [1110], central piece [1130] and far piece [1150] against each other. The cover lifting and stowing device [1000] lifts and folds cover [1100] inward toward the pivot point to move the cover weight closer to the pivot point reducing the required lifting torque.

  • Patent number: 7397391
Abstract: A method of aiding the piloting of an aircraft during a maneuver, bringing about an increase in the attitude of the aircraft, is carried out automatically and repeatedly. According to the method, an attitude deviation is determined by subtracting a first value of attitude from a determined current attitude of the aircraft. A horizon line is presented on a display screen of a head-up display device, superimposed with the environment seen in front of the aircraft, as is an indication of the attitude deviation. The first value of attitude corresponds to the minimum value of (1) an optimal value of attitude at the end of the maneuver and (2) a value of attitude of protection against a rear collision.

  • Publication number: 20070032924
Abstract: Method and device for assisting the lateral control of an aircraft running on a runway. The system (1) comprises a detector (3) for measuring a lateral deviation of the aircraft relative to a lateral alignment beam transmitted by a radio transmitter installed on the ground, the lateral deviation representing an angular deviation between a straight line passing through the radio transmitter and the detector (3) and the centerline of the runway, a calculating means (7) for calculating a first distance which is defined along the runway, between the position of the pilot in the cockpit and the radio transmitter, a central unit (9) for determining from said lateral deviation and said first distance a line intended to correspond with the centerline of the runway, and a head up display device (13) for displaying that line on a display screen (15), superimposed on the environment existing in front of the aircraft, this line being displayed such that it is shown superimposed on said centerline of the runway.

  • Patent number: 7165514
Abstract: A variable fan drive for a vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine is provided. A drive side assembly utilizes a hydraulic actuator to actuate a variable sheave assembly. The variable sheave assembly drives a sheave assembly of a driven side assembly by way of a v-belt. The hydraulic actuator has a piston coupled to the variable sheave assembly. The piston is hydraulically translated by pressurized engine oil from the internal combustion engine. An electronically controlled solenoid valve controlled by an engine or vehicle controller selectively controls the flow of engine oil for piston actuation. Thus the speed of the fan can be controlled based on various engine or vehicle operating parameters.

  • Publication number: 20060220921
Abstract: Method and system for aiding the piloting of an aircraft, during a maneuver bringing about an increase in the attitude of the aircraft. The system (1) comprises a set (2) of information sources, determining at least one current attitude of the aircraft, a first means (11) for transmitting a first value of attitude which preferably corresponds to the minimum value between, on the one hand, an optimal value of attitude at the end of the maneuver and, on the other hand, a value of attitude of protection against a rear collision, a second means (12) for determining an attitude deviation, by subtracting the first value of attitude from the current attitude, and a head-up display device (5) which is able to present, on a display screen (7), superimposed with the environment, at least one horizon line and a first means of indication which indicates said attitude deviation.

  • Patent number: 7014264
Abstract: A folding chair has a height adjustable seat whose height is controlled by a pneumatic cylinder having locking springs is seated inside each of the two tubular front legs of the chair. A trigger mechanism allows the user to release the locking aspect of the springs, adjusting the height of the seat before locking the spring length again. The chair is supported by a pair of cylindrical sleeves that move up and down the front legs and that are connected by a seat stop bar that maintains the seat in a position ready for use because it is contacted by the straight rear edge of a pair of gussets connected to the sides of the seat. The chair seat pivots upward into a storage position through a pair of hollow pins connected to fittings at the top of the pneumatic cylinders and that move up and down the front legs within an elongated slot cut into each front leg.

  • Patent number: 6487754
Abstract: A support mechanism supports a hood in a raised position with respect to a vehicle to which the hood is pivotally coupled. The support mechanism includes a pivotal lift rod coupled between the vehicle and the hood. The mechanism also includes a pair of arm members which are pivotally coupled to each other by a central pivot pin, and which are coupled between the vehicle and a central portion of the rod. A flat coil spring is coiled around the central pivot pin and is attached to the arm members. The spring is biased to pivot the hood upwardly. The lower end of the rod is anchored by a removable pivot pin, which, when removed, permits the hood to be raised approximately 90 degrees from it lowered position.

  • Patent number: 6401851
Abstract: A vehicle hood assembly includes a hood support having a top section joined to left and right side sections and to a front section. An outer panel assembly includes a finished top panel mounted on the top section, a finished front panel assembly mounted on the front section, a finished left side panel mounted on the left section, and a finished right side panel mounted on the right section. Each panel and its respective section form and enclose an air space therebetween. Thus, the inner support and the air space is interposed between the finished panels and the heat from the engine. As the hood is raised, the lower portions of the side panels engage a wear strip and are deflected laterally outwardly and away from each other. As the hood is lowered, the lower portions of the side panels move past the wear strip, and they move laterally inwardly and towards each other.

  • Patent number: 4090010
Abstract: There is disclosed a process in which both non-solvent e.g., water and filler particles e.g., microscopic sodium chloride are added in certain proportions to a polymer solution e.g., polyurethane in dimethylformamide preferably at elevated temperature and coagulated by immersion in non-solvent. This results in a more rapid coagulation time than when solvent or filler alone are used and also results in a microporous product of improved properties and novel pore structure.

  • Patent number: 4065981
Abstract: Power transmission gearing has two countershafts both of which are mounted with virtually no capability of axial movement and drivably connected to a common driving shaft and a common driven shaft by gearing. The gearing which connects the countershafts to the driven shaft conprises a single helical gear of one hand on one of the countershafts, a single helical gear of the other hand on the other of the countershafts, and a double-helical gear assembly on the driven shaft, one toothed zone of the doublehelical gear assembly meshing with one of the single helical gears and the other toothed zone of said assembly meshing with the other of said gears. The double-helical gear assembly is capable of axial movement on the driven shaft to equalize the torque transmitted by each countershaft.
