  • Publication number: 20190385428
Abstract: A motion detector camera is configured to differentiate between an object or objects passing through the field of view of the camera and an object or objects approaching the sensor. In one example, motion is detected with a camera configured to identify and selectively filter specific directions of motion. The motion detector compares pixel changes, corresponding to the basic area or size of the object, from frame to frame, and detects the amount of increase in change or decrease in change. An increasing change in the area or size of an object indicates that an object is approaching, and a decreasing change in the area or size of an object indicates that an object that is receding.

  • Publication number: 20190383697
Abstract: Techniques are described for inspecting optical devices, such as eyepieces, to determine whether they exhibit light leakage through an edge sealant that has been applied to the device. Embodiments provide an inspection apparatus that can be employed to detect the leakage of light through an edge sealant of an optical device, where the edge sealant is applied to prevent, or at least reduce, the leakage of light from the optical device. Light from a light source is projected into the optical device. The light can travel along one or more wave guides within the device, until reaching an edge of the device. Light that is able to leak through an edge sealant can be reflected, using mirror(s) in the apparatus, and detected by a camera. Image(s) captured by the camera can be analyzed to determine the performance of the optical device with respect to edge leakage.

  • Publication number: 20190385769
Abstract: The present invention provides for polycrystalline superconducting permanent magnets which are synthesized of doped superconducting (AE) Fe2As2 compounds, where AE denotes an alkaline earth metal, such as Ba, Sr, Mg or Ca. The superconducting permanent magnets of the present invention can be magnetized in their superconducting state by induced currents, resulting in trapped magnetization that scales with the size of the bulk material. The magnitude of the trapped field has been demonstrated to be over 1 T and is predicted to be over 10 T if the technology is scaled, which is much higher than the capabilities of permanent magnets and other superconducting polycrystalline bulks currently known in the art.
