Abstract: A method is used for designing a multilayered circuit substrate that generates a physical design layout. The physical design layout represents of at least one electrical circuit passing through a plurality of layers. Based on performance requirements of the electrical circuit, a maximum allowable stub length of a via in the electrical circuit is computed. The computer processor determines if a stub length of an existing via in the physical design layout of the electrical circuit is less than the maximum allowable stub length. If the computer determines that the stub length of the existing via is less than the maximum allowable stub length, the computer removes an external non-functional pad of the existing via from the physical design layout.

Abstract: One embodiment sets forth a method for associating each stencil value included in a stencil buffer with multiple fragments. Components within a graphics processing pipeline use a set of stencil masks to partition the bits of each stencil value. Each stencil mask selects a different subset of bits, and each fragment is strategically associated with both a stencil value and a stencil mask. Before performing stencil actions associated with a fragment, the raster operations unit performs stencil mask operations on the operands. No fragments are associated with both the same stencil mask and the same stencil value. Consequently, no fragments are associated with the same stencil bits included in the stencil buffer. Advantageously, by reducing the number of stencil bits associated with each fragment, certain classes of software applications may reduce the wasted memory associated with stencil buffers in which each stencil value is associated with a single fragment.

Abstract: Methods and systems for distributing engine output among vehicles of a consist are disclosed. One example system comprises a controller including non-transitory media having instructions stored on the media and executed by the controller for adjusting distribution of engine output between at least a first engine and a second engine in response to a regeneration mode, wherein the regeneration mode regenerates an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler that is coupled to the first engine.

Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically building a deadlock free inter-communication network in a multi-core system are described. The example implementations described herein involve automatically generating internal dependency specification of a system component based on dependencies between incoming/input and outgoing/output interface channels of the component. Dependencies between incoming and outgoing interface channels of the component can be determined by blocking one or more outgoing interface channels and evaluating impact of the blocked outgoing channels on the incoming interface channels. Another implementation described herein involves determining inter-component communication dependencies by measuring impact of a deadlock on the blocked incoming interface channels of one or more components to identify whether a dependency cycle is formed by blocked incoming interface channels.

Abstract: Methods, non-transitory computer readable media and apparatuses for decrypting an image are disclosed. For example, a method captures a portion of an encrypted image and decrypts the portion of the image using a decryption key. The portion of the image contains partial information for an adjacent portion of the image. The method then displays the portion of the image that is decrypted and also displays the adjacent portion of the image using the partial information for the adjacent portion of the image. Another method includes capturing a first portion of an image that is encrypted using a first key and a second key, decrypting the first portion of the image using a first key and displaying the first portion of the image that is decrypted.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and programs for protecting data on a wireless device may include a wireless device having a computer platform with a processing engine operable, based upon configurable parameters, to log data access attempt on the wireless device and transmit the log to a remote device. Furthermore, the wireless device may be configured to execute locally and remotely generated control commands on the wireless device, the commands operable to modify an operation of the wireless device. The embodiment may also include an apparatus operable to receive the transmitted log, analyze the received log and transmit a control command to the wireless device. The apparatus may further generate a data access report and make the report available to an authorized user.

Abstract: A computer-system implemented method for dual asynchronous and synchronous memory operation in a memory subsystem includes establishing a synchronous channel between a memory controller and a memory buffer chip. A mode selector determines a reference clock source for a memory domain phase-locked loop of the memory buffer chip based on an operating mode of the memory buffer chip. An output of a nest domain phase-locked loop is provided as the reference clock source to the memory domain phase-locked loop in the memory buffer chip based on the operating mode being synchronous. The nest domain phase-locked loop is operable synchronous to a memory controller phase-locked loop of the memory controller. A separate reference clock is provided independent of the nest domain phase-locked loop as the reference clock to the memory domain phase-locked loop based on the operating mode being asynchronous.

Abstract: A computing device includes a non-volatile storage component with a first portion to include active firmware for components of the computing device and a second portion to include a firmware package to modify the active firmware. The computing device installs firmware from the firmware package and determines if the firmware is successfully installed before proceeding to install subsequent firmware from the firmware package. The computing device uninstalls the firmware package to restore the active firmware if a firmware from the firmware package fails to install.

Abstract: A system for generating proposals or purchasing orders for outdoor advertising units includes a processor based server to process HTTP requests received from the client devices. The processor based server includes web servers, a postgres server, a server processor, and Resque workers. Each web server processes the HTTP requests, extracts data from the HTTP requests and generates an HTTP response to each HTTP request. The postgres server stores the extracted data and provides stored data from/to the web servers. The server processor decodes and routes the HTTP requests from the client devices to one of the web servers, and transports the HTTP responses to the client devices. The Resque workers perform predefined jobs associated with each HTTP request and transmit emails to the client devices.

Abstract: An X-ray imaging system can include an X-ray tube, an X-ray generator, a precharging module and a triaxial cable. The X-ray tube can be configured to generate an X-ray emission and include an anode, a cathode and a filament. The X-ray generator can be coupled with the X-ray tube and include a high voltage module and a low voltage module. The high voltage module can be being configured to supply a dosing voltage across the X-ray tube and the low voltage module can be configured to supply a dosing current to the filament. The precharging module can be configured to supply a precharge voltage. The triaxial cable can electrically connect the X-ray generator to the X-ray tube. The outer shield conductor of the triaxial cable can carry a ground voltage, the inner shield conductor can carry the precharge voltage and the center conductor can carry the dosing voltage.

Abstract: A method for selecting an accounting technique for recording interactions with electronic content includes receiving a request for a content item from a user device, selecting a content item in response to the request, and configuring the content item to cause the user device to store a ping identifier in a local memory of the user device. The method further includes distributing the content item to the user device. The distributed content item includes a hyperlink having a ping attribute which causes the user device to send a ping request to one or more servers. The method further includes receiving the ping identifier from the user device, determining whether the ping request was received at the one or more servers, and selecting a ping-based accounting technique or a redirect-based accounting technique based on a result of the determination.
