  • Patent number: 4425324
Abstract: A hazed toothpaste which can effect dental remineralization and reduce caries formation. The toothpaste contains a binary fluorine-providing system which provides about 750-1225 ppm fluoride from sodium monofluorophosphate and about 50-1000 ppm fluorine from sodium fluoride and a synthetic precipitated siliceous polishing agent. The toothpaste is stabilized against gassing in an unlined aluminium tube by the presence of a dicalcium phosphate which exerts a hazing effect on the toothpaste. Dicalcium phosphate also reduces color fading when a water-soluble dye is present. Additional haze to permit opacification of the toothpaste may be introduced by the presence of an opacifying agent, such as titanium dioxide.

  • Patent number: 4357317
Abstract: A dental cream composition containing a binary fluorine providing system which provides about 1000-1670 ppm (0.1-0.16% by weight) fluorine from sodium monofluorophosphate and sodium fluoride wherein sodium fluoride provides about 30-35% by weight of the fluorine in amount of about 300-580 ppm (0.02-0.058% by weight). The dental cream contains a vehicle for the binary fluorine-providing system and about 20-75% by weight of a dentally acceptable water-insoluble polishing agent consisting essentially of dicalcium phosphate intimately dispersed in the vehicle and in direct contact with the binary fluorine-providing system. The dental cream is effective in retaining soluble fluorine and soluble fluoride, in effecting reduction of enamel solubility and in remineralization of dental enamel.

  • Patent number: 4356168
Abstract: An opacified dental cream which effects dental remineralization and reduces caries formation. The opacified dental cream contains a binary fluorine providing system which provides fluorine from sodium monofluorophosphate and from sodium fluoride, a synthetic precipitated silica containing up to about 1% by weight of alumina polishing agent and an opacifying agent.

  • Patent number: 4346072
Abstract: Aqueous toothpaste containing abrasive particles of Bayer process alkaline alpha-alumina trihydrate which has been milled in the presence of a surface-modifying agent. Carboxylic acids containing a polar and a non-polar group and hydrophilic pyrogenic silica are surface-modifying agents. The toothpaste may be packaged in unlined aluminum tubes.

  • Patent number: 4063976
Abstract: Satisfactory or enhanced dry bond between the gypsum core of plasterboard and paper facing sheets is achieved by treatment of at least the inner faces of the paper sheets with a water soluble zirconium salt before contacting the sheets with a core slurry containing gypsum plaster and starch as a dry bond assistant. The preferred zirconium salt is zirconium acetate although other salts such as oxychloride, nitrate and sulphate can also be used. The preferred level of zirconium is from 1 to 2 g. per square meter of paper, expressed as zirconium dioxide, and excellent dry bonds are formed with as little as 0.2% starch by weight of core solids, which represents an important economy in the use of starch.
