  • Patent number: 10686662
Abstract: A wireless access point is linked to multiple wireless network cores. The wireless access point wirelessly transmits a multi-role wireless network identifier for a multi-role network. The wireless access point wirelessly receives device attachment signaling indicating a device role from the wireless user device responsive to the multi-role wireless network identifier. The wireless access point processes the device role to select the optimal one of the wireless network cores from the multiple wireless network cores. The wireless access point transfers network attachment signaling for the wireless user device to the selected and optimal wireless network core.

  • Patent number: 9565645
Abstract: Methods for wirelessly connecting a small cell to a grandmaster timing device are disclosed. The methods can include identifying one or more grandmaster timing devices and wirelessly requesting an IP address to enable a small cell to connect to a grandmaster timing device for time synchronization. The methods may further include selecting a grandmaster timing device based on a predetermined preference order that includes a relative preference level for different types of grandmaster timing devices.

  • Patent number: 9173181
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for converting a precision time protocol (PTP) to a GPS signal. Enterprise versions of Femtocells are located within buildings and do not have access to a GPS signal directly from a GPS satellite. An adapter is provided that takes an available PTP and power over Ethernet (PoE) flow and converts the signal into a pseudo-GPS signal that acts as a timing input into the Femtocell. The pseudo-GPS signal is a GPS signal modulated at the L1 band frequency or 1575.42 megahertz, but does not have location data nor subframes 1, 2, or 3, as found in an ordinary GPS signal.

  • Patent number: 8542611
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems and methods for providing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) emergency calls via a wireless communication network. In a particular embodiment, a method provides receiving an emergency call request from a VoIP communication network initiated by a VoIP communication client operating on the VoIP communication network. The method further provides processing the emergency call request to determine a wireless device associated with the VoIP communication client. The method further provides determining a location of the wireless device and determining a public safety answering point (PSAP) based on the location of the wireless device. The method further provides establishing an emergency call between the VoIP communication client and the PSAP via the wireless communication system and the VoIP communication network based on the location of the wireless device.

  • Patent number: 8411671
Abstract: An originating device coupled to an originating network requests a media call to a terminating device coupled to a terminating network. In between the originating and terminating networks, a tandem network receives a signaling message for the media call transferred by the originating network. The tandem network retrieves and processes numbers for the originating device and the terminating device from the signaling message to determine a loss adjustment for the media call and to select the originating device or the terminating device to make the loss adjustment. The tandem network transfers a loss instruction indicating the loss adjustment to the originating network or the terminating network for delivery to the selected device. The selected device receives the loss instruction and responsively makes the loss adjustment.

  • Patent number: 8406730
Abstract: A communication system comprises a voice over internet protocol (VoIP) service system and a location determination system. The VoIP service system is configured to receive a call request for an emergency service from a user, process the call request to determine a wireless communication device identifier associated with the user, and transfer a location request for delivery to a location determination system in a wireless network serving the wireless communication device. The location determination system is configured to receive the location request, process the location request to determine a location of the wireless communication device and a possession confidence metric that indicates a level of confidence that the user is in possession of the wireless communication device, and transfer a location response for delivery to the VoIP service system.
