  • Patent number: 11962841
Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method and/or computer program product embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for upgrading one or more display device hardware components. In one embodiment, as new television hardware components become available, the technology described herein allows replacement of original hardware components by external hardware components implemented as an add-in card, stick or equivalent circuitry and operational instructions. In some embodiments, the technology described herein may implement an application programming interface (API) that exposes hardware of a new external device communicatively coupled to the display device (e.g., television) to take control of one or more components of an existing internal system. Various interface technologies, such as HDMI and USB, may be used to connect the external hardware to the internal systems.

  • Publication number: 20240064378
Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method and/or computer program product embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for switching the output of an overriding multimedia device from a first input to a second input or a combination of the first input and the second input. An example embodiment operates by receiving audio data relating to a multimedia switching event. The example embodiment further operates by determining that audio data corresponds to a multimedia switching action. In response, the example embodiment operates by generating a multimedia switching actuation signal that instructs an overriding multimedia device to switch its output from the first multimedia signal to the second multimedia signal. Subsequently, the example embodiment operates by transmitting the multimedia switching actuation signal to the overriding multimedia device.

  • Patent number: 11875672
Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method and/or computer program product embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for a remote control system that improves one or more of directionality, target specificity, signal specificity, and bandwidth. An example embodiment is a remote control system that includes a radiation source configured to generate an infrared radiation projection based on one or more remote control codes to control a device. The remote control system further includes an optical controller configured to adjust one or more parameters associated with the infrared radiation projection before the infrared radiation projection is emitted to the device.

  • Publication number: 20220381892
Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, computer-implemented method, and/or computer-program product (computer-readable non-transitory storage medium) embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for an environmentally aware remote control. An example embodiment operates by at least one processor detecting a first signal and a second signal and receiving information corresponding to at least a physical position where a user is located relative to at least the first physical source. The at least one processor may further operate by calculating a time difference between a given sample of the first signal and a corresponding sample of a second signal at the physical position where the user is located, and adjusting a relative timing of the first signal with respect to the second signal. In some further embodiments, the at least one processor may adjust other attributes of either signal besides timing, e.g.
