Patent number: 10095826Abstract: A method and apparatus for selecting Si wafer WP based on individual or multiple DFM decks for Si-feed-forward and Si-feed-back analysis are provided. Embodiments include generating markers for a wafer from an individual DFM deck; generating UCF Indexes; determining whether a representative marker corresponding to a UCF is a candidate for WP prediction; extracting markers corresponding to that UCF-Index (UEF data) from a candidate; performing a UCF-Index-based sampling on the extracted UEF data set if a number of markers in the extracted UEF data set is larger than an inspection requirement; adding a location of each marker or group of markers in the extracted UEF data set to a sitelist after the UCF-Index-based sampling; sending the sitelist to a foundry for metrology analysis on sitelist locations; and adding the sitelist locations and corresponding UCF Index and metrology parameters to a design analysis database for analyzing other wafers/UCF Indexes.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2016Date of Patent: October 9, 2018Assignee: GLOBALFOUNDRIES INC.Inventors: Shikha Somani, Sriram Madhavan, Thomas Herrmann, Stefan Schüler, Uwe Schroeder, Shobhit Malik, Eric Chiu

Patent number: 8830566Abstract: A fiber laser amplifier system including a plurality of master oscillators each generating a signal beam at a different wavelength. A splitter for each master oscillator splits the signal beam into a plurality of fiber beams to be separately amplified. A separate tapered fiber bundle receives the amplified beam for each master oscillator, where each tapered fiber bundle includes a plurality of input end fibers, a plurality of output end fibers and a center bundle portion, where each input end fiber is coupled to a separate one of the fiber amplifiers, where the bundle portion combines all of the fiber beams received by the input end fibers into a single combined beam and each output end fiber is capable of receiving the combined beam separately from the other output end fibers. A separate optical output channel receives one of the output end fibers from each tapered fiber bundle.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2012Date of Patent: September 9, 2014Assignee: Northrop Grumman Systems CorporationInventors: Joshua Elliott Rothenberg, Eric Chiu Tat Cheung

Patent number: 8184361Abstract: A fiber laser amplifier system including a plurality of master oscillators each generating a signal beam at a different wavelength. A splitter is provided for each master oscillator that splits the signal beam into a plurality of fiber beams where a separate fiber beam is sent to a fiber amplifier. A tapered fiber bundle couples the output ends the fiber amplifiers for each wavelength group into a combined fiber providing a combined output beam, where a separate combined output beam is provided for the wavelength for each master oscillator. An end cap is optically coupled to an output end of each of the tapered fiber bundles to expand the combined output beam. A spectral beam combination grating receives the combined beams from the tapered fiber bundles at different angles and outputs an output beam of all of the combined beams as a single beam being directed in the same direction.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2009Date of Patent: May 22, 2012Assignee: Northrop Grumman Systems CorporationInventors: Joshua Elliott Rothenberg, Eric Chiu Tat Cheung

Publication number: 20110032604Abstract: A fiber laser amplifier system including a beam splitter that splits a feedback beam into a plurality of fiber beams where a separate fiber beam is sent to a fiber amplifier for amplifying the fiber beam. A tapered fiber bundle couples all of the output ends of all of the fiber amplifiers into a combined fiber providing a combined output beam. An end cap is optically coupled to an output end of the tapered fiber bundle to expand the output beam. A beam sampler samples a portion of the output beam from the end cap and provides a sample beam. A single mode fiber receives the sample beam from the beam sampler and provides the feedback beam.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 7, 2009Publication date: February 10, 2011Applicant: Northrop Grumman Space & Mission Systems Corp.Inventors: Joshua Elliott Rothenberg, Eric Chiu Tat Cheung

Patent number: 7502395Abstract: A pulsed coherent fiber array laser system that includes a beam generating sub-system that provides a signal pulse beam having pulses of the desired duration that is split into several fiber channels. Optical leakage between the pulses in each split beam is measured and locked to a reference beam by a phase sensing circuit and phase adjusters so that the phase of each fiber pulsed beam is aligned with the phase of the reference beam. A pulse clipper or filter is employed to remove the pulses in the fiber beams so that they do not saturate the phase sensing circuit. The beam generating sub-system can employ any suitable combination of devices to generate the signal beam and the reference beam, including continuous wave master oscillators, amplitude modulators, frequency shifters, injection seed oscillators, Q-switched lasers, reference oscillators, frequency lockers, wavelength division multiplexers, time gated switches, etc.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2006Date of Patent: March 10, 2009Assignee: Northrop Grumman Space & Mission Systems Corp.Inventors: Eric Chiu-Tat Cheng, Robert Rex Rice, Michael Gordon Wickham, Mark Ernest Weber

Patent number: 6556766Abstract: A dynamic gain equalizer (DGE) includes: a mirror; an electrode; and a lever with a first end and a second end opposite to the first end, where the lever is capable of rotating about a fulcrum, where the lever rotates the first end toward the electrode when the electrode is charged such that the second end blocks a portion of a channel from reaching the mirror, where an unblocked portion of the channel is reflected by the mirror. By manipulating the charge on the electrode, the rotation of the lever is controlled, determining how much of the light is blocked by the lever. Each lever in an array can attenuate a channel or a group of channels of a composite optical signal by a different amount. The DGE provides a significant range of blockage and can be closely spaced. It provides ease in integrating channel monitoring into the DGE.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2001Date of Patent: April 29, 2003Assignee: Avanex CorporationInventors: Eric Chiu Tat Cheung, Christopher Lin, Yongsheng Liu, Xuefeng Yue
