  • Publication number: 20250295430
Abstract: A cutting instrument can include a blade body having at least one face and a cutting wedge. The cutting wedge can include a leading edge and one or more cutting fasciae extending from the at least one face and defining at least a portion of the leading edge. The one or more cutting fasciae can have a surface roughness comprising one or more of: (1) a measured maximum height (St) of 1.5 ?m or less with a standard deviation of 0.4 ?m or less within a measurement area of 16,641 square microns on at least the portion of the one or more cutting fasciae, or (2) a measured arithmetic mean peak curvature (Spc) of 150 mm?1 or less with a standard deviation of 30 mm?1 or less within the measurement area of 16,641 square microns on the at least the portion of the one or more cutting fasciae. Other embodiments are described.

  • Patent number: 9174094
Abstract: A hollow golf ball center defined by an intermediate layer including a thermoplastic ionomer resin neutralized at least about 40% with a metal cation is filled with an alcohol having up to three carbon atoms or an aqueous alcohol solution to create a hardness gradient in the intermediate layer. The alcohol or aqueous alcohol solution may be left in the center, removed from the center leaving the center hollow, or replaced by another material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 31, 2013
Date of Patent: November 3, 2015
    Assignee: NIKE, Inc.
Inventors: Bradley C. Tutmark, Eric Coats
  • Publication number: 20140357425
Abstract: A golf ball or other article of sports equipment is coated with a clear coating including a free radical-curable material and a photoinitiator that absorbs light in the visible light region of the electromagnetic spectrum to generate free radicals. The coating is cured with radiation in the visible light region of the electromagnetic spectrum. An indicium may be printed on the uncoated ball with a free radical-curable material and a photoinitiator that absorbs light in the visible light region and may, if not completely cured when the coating is applied, be further cured along with the applied clear coating layer.
