  • Patent number: 7133068
Abstract: A system and method for creating still images by utilizing a video camera comprises a cradle device that transports the video camera across a target object during a scanning procedure that captures and stores video data. During the scanning procedure, a motion detector captures and provides scan motion data to a scanning manager from the video camera. The scanning manager may then responsively utilize the scan motion data to accurately extract still frames corresponding to the target object from the captured video data at pre-determined time intervals. A stitching software program may then access and combine the still frames generated by the scanning manager to thereby create composite still images.

  • Patent number: 6598084
Abstract: This disclosure describes systems and methods for processing medical information from an electronic medical device connected to a patient via a serial bus at one site for transmission and receipt over a network to a remote diagnostic site or medical processing center for a medical diagnosis. The systems and methods encompass any electronic medical device that produces a signal that may be communicated via a serial bus. The systems and methods prepare the signal from the serial bus for transmission over a network and entail the receipt of the signal at a remote diagnostic site or medical processing center. At the remote diagnostic site or medical processing center, the signal is then presented to a physician or other medical technician for analysis and diagnosis. After diagnosis of the signal at the remote diagnostic site or medical processing center the diagnosis may be provided to the patient.

  • Patent number: 6532075
Abstract: A system and method for utilizing a topology detector to capture visual information comprises a topology detector that propagates a detection pulse towards a target object using a transmitter module, and then senses wave segments of the detection pulse with a sensor array as the wave segments are reflected back toward the topology detector. The topology detector may then generate contour values that correspond to localized areas of the target object. A detection manager may then access the contour values to responsively generate and store topology values that may be mapped to respective pixel values of a set of captured image data that represents the target object.

  • Publication number: 20010045985
Abstract: A system and method for efficiently transferring data from an electronic camera device includes a camera device that is configured to capture image data and temporarily store the image data into an economical limited local buffer memory. A transfer manager from the camera device may then periodically arbitrate for access to a wireless communications network, and may transfer the captured image data from the buffer memory to a designated data destination, such as an image service on a distributed computer network like the Internet. A system user may then efficiently access the transferred image data from a dedicated storage location on the data destination by utilizing any appropriate data-access device, such as a personal computer device or a portable electronic device.

  • Publication number: 20010028798
Abstract: A system and method for utilizing a motion detector when capturing visual information includes a motion detector mechanism that generates one or more motion values corresponding to current motion characteristics of a camera device. A motion module may then analyze the one or more motion values with reference to either a motion threshold value or a motion lookup table to determine whether current motion conditions of the camera device are acceptable for capturing a well-focused image of a particular target object. In the event that current motion conditions are not acceptable, then the motion module may provide relevant feedback information to a system user regarding the current motion conditions of the camera device.
