Abstract: A document lockbox system includes a receptacle positioned within an exterior panel of a vehicle, at least one document retention device, at least one door that provides access into the receptacle, at least one lock to lock and to unlock the door, and at least one lock interface configured to actuate the at least one lock. At least one processor and a memory operably coupled with the at least one processor, wherein the memory stores instructions that cause the at least one processor to perform operations includes actuating the at least one lock. A method of accessing the lockbox includes contacting a remote data center, verifying an identity of the user, transmitting the lock interface code, receiving a lock interface code, and entering the lock interface code into the at least one lock interface.
