Patent number: 11659385Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for establishing dynamic and secure peer-to-peer communications channels between terminals. A network device may intercept a connection request transmitted from a first terminal to a second terminal, over a secure network, with the connection request including a first parameter that identifies the first terminal and a second parameter that identifies the second terminal, with the first parameter and the second parameter relating to a network interface that operates according to a security protocol. The network device may then send instructions to the first terminal to establish peer-to-peer communications with the second terminal over a secured ad-hoc public network, using one or more keys provided by a central unit of that network. The keys may include an authentication key, which may be used in authenticating one or both of the terminals, and/or an encryption key, which may be used in encrypting the peer-to-peer communications.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2017Date of Patent: May 23, 2023Assignee: InterDigital CE Patent Holdings, SASInventor: Eric De Froment

Patent number: 9854440Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for establishing dynamic peer-to-peer communications channels between terminals. A connection request for establishing a communications channel between a first terminal and second terminal may be intercepted. The first terminal and the second terminal may be connectable over secured communications channels to a secured network. Based on the intercepted connection request and/or network parameters obtained from the first and the second terminals, the terminals may be instructed to establish a peer-to-peer communications channel over a network distinct from the secured network. Security of the peer-to-peer communications channel may be maintained, such as by use of authentication and/or encryption in one or both of the first terminal and the second terminal.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2014Date of Patent: December 26, 2017Assignee: SWISSCOM AGInventor: Eric De Froment

Patent number: 8774764Abstract: The present invention concerns a method and a system for establishing a dynamic peer-to-peer communications channel between a first terminal and a second terminal. A first terminal and a second terminal are connectable over secured communications channels to a secured network. The first terminal sends a connection request for establishing a communications channel between the terminals. The connection request is intercepted and analyzed by an analyzer module. The analyzer modules requests network parameters from the first and the second terminals. Based on the intercepted connection request, and the network parameters of the terminals, the analyzer module instructs the terminal to establish a peer-to-peer communications channel over a network distinct from the secured network. Security of the peer-to-peer communications channel may be maintained by means of a central unit of the secured network. In this regard, the central unit may send to the terminal authentication keys and/or encryption keys.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2012Date of Patent: July 8, 2014Assignee: Swisscom AGInventor: Eric De Froment

A first terminal and a second terminal are connectable over secured communications channels to a secured network. The first terminal sends a connection request for establishing a communications channel between the terminals. The connection request is analyzed by an analyzer module. Patent number: 7693107Abstract: A method, a system, and a local network switching device for providing access for a mobile communication terminal and the mobile communication terminal at a moved location to an Internet network via wireless local networks. The mobile communication terminal is moved from a first network to a second network. The WLAN handover, necessary therefore, takes place efficiently and in a robust manner, by providing access for the mobile communication terminal in the first network, by transmitting a device-specific address to a plurality of bordering networks, and by configuring further accesses on the plurality of bordering networks. After moving the mobile communication terminal, access to an Internet network can be continued immediately via the second network, via the local network switching unit of the second network, and via the local network switching unit of the first network.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2005Date of Patent: April 6, 2010Assignee: Swisscom Mobile AGInventor: Eric De Froment
