  • Patent number: 9479979
Abstract: A method is disclosed that includes selecting at an apparatus a user equipment for an automatic neighbor relations measurement based on a determination one or more parameters associated with the user equipment meet one or more scenarios. The method includes initiating by the apparatus an automatic neighbor relations measurement procedure for the selected user equipment. The method includes awaiting at the apparatus for a conclusion of the initiated automatic neighbor relations measurement procedure. Apparatus and program products are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9392447
Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for security handling in, for example, cells that support multiple frequency band indication are provided. One method includes receiving, for example by a source evolved node B (eNB) configured to communicate with a user equipment, a multiple frequency band indicator (MFBI) list, the multiple frequency band indicator (MFBI) list comprising at least one frequency band number listed in the same order of priority as broadcast by a target eNB. The method may further include selecting one of the at least one frequency band number for use by the source eNB, calculating a security key (KeNB*) using the DL EARFCN belonging to the selected frequency band number with the highest priority that is also supported by the user equipment, and signaling the calculated security key to the target eNB.

  • Patent number: 7366525
Abstract: Upon determining (11) a need to transmit a message (such as a paging message) to a mobile station within a multi-band wireless communications system, the system (via, for example, a mobile switching center) identifies (12) discrete geographic locations within the system having a likelihood of presently supporting the mobile station and further identifies (13) a band within the multi-band system that also has a present likelihood of presently supporting the mobile station. This information is then used (14) (for example, by a base station controller) to identify one or more communication resources to be allocated for use when transmitting the message.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: April 29, 2008
    Assignee: Motorola, Inc.

  • Patent number: 5809412
Abstract: Detection of a fraudulent remote unit (113) in a communication system (100) occurs by external fraud detection equipment (103) located external to, and in proximity to a base site (101). External fraud detection equipment (103) communicates with base site (101) via an uplink communication signal (105) and utilizes fraud detection methods not utilized by internal fraud detection equipment (111) to identify the remote unit (113) as being fraudulent. Once the remote unit (113) is identified by the external fraud detection equipment (103) as being fraudulent, the external fraud detection equipment (103) places an origination order to the base site (101) and supplies identification information on the fraudulent remote unit (113). Infrastructure equipment (109) utilizes information supplied to it by the external fraud detection equipment (103) and disconnects the fraudulent remote unit (113).
