  • Publication number: 20210341156
Abstract: A furnace with at least one adjustable baffle assembly, a heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system incorporating the same, and a method of operating the HVAC system are provided. The at least one adjustable baffle assembly is disposed adjacent to the furnace heat exchanger in the furnace. The at least one adjustable baffle assembly is configured to actuate, between a cooling position and a heating position. The at least one adjustable baffle assembly may be in a heating position when the HVAC system is in a heating mode. The at least one adjustable baffle assembly may be in a cooling position when the HVAC system is in a cooling mode. The actuation of the adjustable baffle assembly may increase the efficiency of the furnace and/or HVAC system.

  • Publication number: 20200141606
Abstract: A method for commissioning an air handler including a blower and a motor to match a ducted application in a heating, ventilation, and cooling (HVAC) system. The method including obtaining product and operational information regarding at least the motor and the blower, communicating a commanded torque to the motor, and operating the motor at the commanded torque. The method also includes receiving a motor signal indicative of an operating characteristic of the motor, determining at least an operational air flow based on at least the commanded torque, the operating characteristic, and the operational information, comparing an operational air flow to a desired airflow for a particular configuration of the HVAC system based on the operational information, and identifying and communicating a new commanded torque to the motor if the difference between the operational airflow and the desired airflow exceeds a selected tolerance.

  • Publication number: 20150118631
Abstract: A device and method of controlling excess air during and after ignition of a gas furnace by operating a variable speed combustion blower assembly at an initial speed; operating a gas valve assembly and a burner assembly to initiate an ignition sequence; operating the variable speed combustion blower assembly at an increasing plurality of speeds until an excess air measurement is less than or equal to a predetermined value, and operating the variable speed combustion blower assembly at a steady state airflow rate to maintain the excess air measurement at the predetermined value.
