  • Patent number: 7146063
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting and fixing incorrect dates tagged to digital images is disclosed. The current date on a digital imaging device and the dates tagged to digital images are used to determine any potentially incorrect dates tagged to the digital images. When the date on the digital imaging device is incorrect the dates tagged to the images may be incorrect. When the dates tagged to the images are old, or close to a default date, or have large gaps between groups, the dates may be incorrect. The potentially incorrect dates may be brought to the users attention, and after user conformation the dates are corrected.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 29, 2003
Date of Patent: December 5, 2006
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Mark D. Seaman, Eric E. Williams, Virgil Kay Russon

  • Publication number: 20030030733
Abstract: A method, device, and logic for synchronizing captured data from a recorder, such as image data from a digital camera, with stored data in a storage medium. The system includes determining whether any two sets of the captured and stored data have the same first data attribute, further determining whether any two captured and stored data sets having the same first attribute at the same second and third attributes, and deleting captured data sets having the same first, second, and third data attributes. The first data attribute may be a non-calculated data attribute, such as the size, name, and time. At least one of the second and third data attributes is preferably a calculated data attribute, such as a checksum.

  • Patent number: 5608684
Abstract: A system and method for permanently backing up RAM memory devices. The present invention utilizes a capacitor as a primary backup device for supplying the necessary backup power for power fluctuations, power interruptions, and other short-duration power failures. The present invention also utilizes a ROM as a secondary backup device for backing up and restoring valid RAM data when the duration of power loss is greater than that for which the capacitor can supply backup power. Thus, the integrity of RAM data is guaranteed for all types of power fluctuations, interruptions, and failures. The ROM includes two storage areas for separately storing two copies of RAM data. The processor first determines whether the data stored in the RAM is valid. If the present RAM data is valid, the processor backs up the present RAM data by replacing the oldest or invalid copy in the ROM with the present RAM data.
