    Abstract: The invention is an endoscopic method for viewing a target portion of a patient's anatomy with access through the oral or nasal cavity. The method includes adjusting a variable direction of view endoscope to a direction of view of between about 0 degrees and 20 degrees relative to a longitudinal axis of the endoscope and a shaft orientation pointing toward the target portion of the patient's anatomy. The endoscope is then introduced straight into the oral or nasal cavity of a patient until the endoscope is positioned in the back of the cavity. The direction of view is adjusted to view the target portion of the patient's anatomy.

The platform and the elongate member cooperate to absorb inflation forces from the dilator directed toward the longitudinal axis of the elongate member, such that the dilation forces are exerted against tissue asymmetrically relative to the longitudinal axis of the elongate member. The dilation apparatus may be used to dilate the ethmoid infundibulum in a human patient. Various devices may be used to maintain the dilated state of an ethmoid infundibulum, including a wedge, a mesh, and a tether. An illuminator may be configured to reach around an uncinate process, retract the uncinate process, and then illuminate the ethmoid infundibulum to provide improved visualization of the ethmoid infundibulum.

    Abstract: The methods, devices, and systems are provided for performing endovascular repair of atrioventricular and other cardiac valves in the heart. Regurgitation of an atrioventricular valve, particularly a mitral valve, can be repaired by modifying a tissue structure selected from the valve leaflets, the valve annulus, the valve chordae, and the papillary muscles. These structures may be modified by suturing, stapling, snaring, or shortening, using interventional tools which are introduced to a heart chamber. Preferably, the tissue structures will be temporarily modified prior to permanent modification. For example, opposed valve leaflets may be temporarily grasped and held into position prior to permanent attachment.
