  • Patent number: 8201149
Abstract: A system and method enables remote execution of a program, such as a debugger, using a remote management module. A packet daemon executing on the remote management module packetizes data received from a client and forwards it to a packet daemon executing on a computer, which receives the packet and forwards data contained therein to the program. Data from the program is packetized by the packet daemon executing on the computer and transmitted to the packet daemon executing on the remote management module, which forwards the data to a program specific daemon on the remote management module for forwarding to the client.

  • Patent number: 7782020
Abstract: Provided is a method and system for operating a non-volatile memory charger. Specifically, during the operation of a storage system, the non-volatile memory of the storage system can temporarily store data. The temporarily stored data is flushed to disks of the storage system during the normal operation of the storage system. However, if the storage system is inoperable, then the temporarily stored data is maintained for a time period by a rechargeable battery of the non-volatile memory. The rechargeable battery prevents data loss when the temporarily stored data cannot be flushed to the disks of the storage system. The rechargeable battery maintains sufficient voltage levels to continue to temporarily store data by the operation of a charger connected to the rechargeable battery. A charger policy operated by an operating system of the storage system enables and disables the charging of the rechargeable battery.

  • Patent number: 7161495
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus for indicating valid data in a removable memory media. In an embodiment of the invention, an alert may be employed with the removable media, such as NVRAM, to indicate that the battery backup is functional and that the memory content may be valid. One type of alert may be a blinking light source, such as a blinking light emitting diode (LED). In a another aspect of the present invention, contents of an appliance, such as a computer or storage controller, may be arranged so that an alert employed on the removable memory media in accordance with the present invention may be visible to an administrator without opening the chassis of the appliance.
