  • Publication number: 20120101420
Abstract: In a dynamic shoulder joint orthesis a compensation mechanism is provided between a spring (30) and a support rod (25) to compensate for a change in spring force which occurs when the upper arm splint (9) is pivoted, such that the force to be applied to pivot the upper arm splint (9) in the adduction direction and/or in the abduction direction remains at least approximately the same over the entire pivoting range.

  • Patent number: 7309322
Abstract: A device for applying a ventrally or dorsally directed translatory force onto a lower leg in the area of the knee joint includes a thigh bar and a lower leg bar device having a shorter and a longer bar arm. Both bar arms can be freely swiveled relative to the thigh bar. The two bar arms are disposed in such a manner that they can be swiveled relative to each other. A pretension of a spring device between the shorter and the longer bar arm has the effect that the bar arms are urged to carry out a swiveling motion relative to each other, thereby applying a ventrally or dorsally directed translatory force onto a lower leg fixation device in an area close to the knee.

  • Patent number: 7083583
Abstract: The invention relates to an orthesis comprising a first bar (2) and a second bar (3) joined to the latter in an articulated manner, in addition to at least one click-stop dial (14, 15), for adjusting the pivoting-range stops in an extensional or flexional direction. The invention is also provided with a fixing device, which comprises a locking disc (16) that is mounted in a rotationally fixed manner in relation to the first bar (2) and can be displaced in the direction of the pivoting axis (102), for blocking the click-stop dial (14, 15). The locking disc (16) can be moved by being displaced between a position that blocks the click-stop dial (14, 15) by radial impingement, in which the locking disc (16) engages with the click-stop dial (14, 15) in a locking positive fit and a release position, in which the locking disc (16) is disengaged from said click-stop dial (14, 15).

  • Publication number: 20030093018
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to eliminate deficits of movement in the joint area. An orthesis comprising a spring force mechanism that acts in the flexion direction and in the extension direction is provided. The limits of the pivoting area can be adjusted by means of rail pivoting movements. The flexion stop (26) is arranged on a flexion stop carrier disc (28) and the extension stop (27) is arranged on an extension stop carrier disc (29). The movement of rotation of the flexion and extension stop carrier discs (28, 29) can be blocked by means of clamping rings (30, 31). In the unblocked state, the flexion stop (26) and the extension stop (27) can be moved up to the desired limits of the pivoting area by means of a stop carrier device.

  • Patent number: 5954677
Abstract: In the case of a device for reducing deficits in extension or bending of a distal body member in relation to an adjacent proximal body member articulating with the distal body member a spring force locking mechanism (28, 29 and 31) is provided, which is able to be pivoted between a non-locking state, wherein the biasing force of the spring (34) is able to be freely transmitted to the distal splint (1), and a locking state, wherein the biasing force of the spring (34) is de-coupled from the distal splint (1) and is taken up by the spring force locking mechanism (28, 29 and 31) so that the distal splint (1) is able to be pivoted without any spring action over the free pivoting range.

  • Patent number: 5885235
Abstract: In the case of a joint brace with two splints (1 and 3) connected together in an articulating manner, an abutment (26) is provided on one splint (3), said abutment cooperating with a complementary abutment (25) on the other splint (1) for limiting the pivot angle. The complementary abutment (25) is provided on an angle setting element (18), which is pivotally mounted in relation to the splint (1) and may be set in different positions on such splint. By moving the angle setting element (18) in relation to the splint (1) the position of the complementary abutment (25) and accordingly the maximum pivot range of the splint (1) may be reset steplessly in a predetermined angular range.
