  • Patent number: 9732710
Abstract: A hydrocarbon (HC) trap positioned in an intake conduit of an engine is provided. The HC trap includes a stack of consecutively layered polymeric sheets with at least a portion of the sheets impregnated with a HC vapor adsorption/desorption material, the stack of sheets extending from a first exterior surface to a second exterior surface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 26, 2015
Date of Patent: August 15, 2017
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC

  • Patent number: 8579585
Abstract: An inlet duct, an induction system, and a system are disclosed for directing an inlet flow into an inlet compressor for use in an internal combustion engine. An example inlet duct may include one or more relief features disposed on an inner surface of the inlet duct. The one or more relief features may be made integral with the inlet duct. The one or more relief features may be disposed to protrude into the inlet flow to cause the inlet flow to swirl before reaching the inlet compressor.

  • Patent number: 8327975
Abstract: A resonator is disclosed which includes: a sleeve insert and an outer duct sealingly coupled to the sleeve insert. The sleeve insert has a wall with a first aperture in the wall at a first axial distance, a second aperture in the wall at a second axial distance, and a rib extending radially outwardly with the rib located between the first and second apertures. The outer duct sealingly couples to the sleeve insert proximate first and second ends of the inner sleeve and at the rib. The sleeve insert and the outer duct are formed of plastic materials which are coupled by welding or via o-rings placed on the sleeve insert. Cavities, in the vicinity of the apertures, are formed in the outer duct. The cavities, which are fluidly coupled to the sleeve insert via the apertures, attenuate noise.
