Patent number: 12559988Abstract: An exit device assembly is provided in which the exterior trim can be locked and unlocked from an interior lock cylinder assembly on the interior side of the door and from an exterior lock cylinder assembly on an exterior side of the door. The interior lock cylinder assembly is located on a center case of the pushbar assembly, and the exterior lock cylinder assembly is located on the exterior trim. The interior lock cylinder assembly is operable to transition the exterior trim between a locked state and an unlocked state, and the exterior lock cylinder assembly is operable to lock and unlock the exterior trim.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2024Date of Patent: February 24, 2026Assignee: Schlage Lock Company LLCInventors: Paul R. Arlinghaus, Jack R. Lehner, Suraj Kumbhar, Chad Eagin, Eric Hoiland

Publication number: 20250283354Abstract: An exemplary exit device generally includes a pushbar, a scissor mechanism, a blocking member, and a driver. The pushbar is mounted for movement between a projected position and a depressed position. The scissor mechanism is connected between the pushbar and a latch mechanism, and depression of the pushbar causes an inward scissoring movement of the scissor mechanism and actuation of the latch mechanism. The blocking member is mounted for movement between a blocking position, in which the blocking member prevents the inward scissoring movement, and an unblocking position, in which the blocking member does not prevent the inward scissoring movement. The driver is operable to move the blocking member between the blocking position and the unblocking position.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 5, 2024Publication date: September 11, 2025Inventors: Manjunath Shetty, Suraj Kumbhar, Suresha Chandrasekharareddy, Paul R. Arlinghaus, Eric Hoiland

Publication number: 20250188770Abstract: An indicator assembly according to certain embodiments generally includes a mounting bracket, a follower, a transmission ring, and an indicator plate. The follower is rotatably mounted to the mounting bracket, and is configured to receive a tailpiece of an input device. The transmission ring is rotatably mounted to the mounting bracket, and is engaged with the follower. The indicator plate is slidably mounted to the mounting bracket for movement between a first indicator plate position and a second indicator plate position to selectively place a first indicium of the indicator plate within a reference area. The transmission ring is operably connected with the indicator plate such that movement of the transmission ring between a first transmission ring position and a second transmission ring position drives the indicator plate between the first indicator plate position and the second indicator plate position.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 25, 2025Publication date: June 12, 2025Inventors: Eric Hoiland, Michael D. Coleman, Manjunath Shetty

Patent number: 12270231Abstract: An exemplary electronic actuator assembly is configured for use with a pushbar assembly having a drive assembly operable to retract a latchbolt, and includes an input shaft, a motor, and a boost spring. The motor has a retracting state in which the motor drives the input shaft from a proximal position to a distal position, a holding state in which the motor exerts a holding force to retain the input shaft in the distal position, and a releasing state in which the motor exerts a residual force that resists movement of the input shaft. The boost spring exerts a boost force urging the input shaft in the proximal direction to at least partially counteract the residual force.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2022Date of Patent: April 8, 2025Assignee: Schlage Lock Company LLCInventors: Paul R. Arlinghaus, Evan Ballard, Suresha Chandrasekhara, Eric Hoiland
