    Abstract: A multi-part water-borne coating composition is provided. The multi-part composition includes water, a first part, and a second part. The first part comprises (a1) a core-shell latex copolymer having pendant hydroxyl and pendant carbonyl groups. The second part comprises (b1) at least one polyisocyanate compound having pendant —NCO groups. The multi-part composition also includes at least one polyhydrazide compound having at least two hydrazide groups of the formula —C(?O)—NH—N(Rh)(Ri), wherein Rh and Ri are independently H or C1-C12 alkyl. The molar ratio of hydroxyl groups to —NCO groups in the composition is from 5:1 to 1:5. The molar ratio of hydrazide groups to carbonyl groups in the composition is from 5:1 to 1:5.

    Abstract: Coating systems, composite articles formed from the coating systems, and methods of forming the composite articles are provided herein. In an embodiment, a coating system comprises a waterborne underlying composition comprising an acrylic latex resin and a two-part waterborne clearcoat composition. The two-part waterborne clearcoat composition comprises a clearcoat binder part and a clearcoat crosslinker part. The clearcoat binder part comprises a water-dilutable, hydroxyl-functional (meth)acrylate copolymer. The clearcoat crosslinker part comprises a polyisocyanate compound having pendant —NCO groups. A cured film of the waterborne clearcoat composition having a film thickness of 67.5 ?m overlying a cured film of the waterborne underlying composition having a film thickness of 20 ?m disposed on a substrate exhibits a popping density of less than about 3 pops per square centimeter, as measured by visual observation with the naked eye at a distance of 30 cm under a fluorescent light source.
