  • Patent number: 4831008
Abstract: Method for the preparation of catalysts on support materials, such as strontiumtitanate, which serve for the hydrogenation of unsaturated organic compounds such as alkenes, alkynes and aromates, which catalysts consist of rhodium-metal on support, obtained by applying rhodiumcarbonyl-clusters to a support in an inert atmosphere and then pyrolyzing them at a relatively low temperature of for instance 150.degree. C.The material, thus applied to the support is activated by means of a reaction with oxygen, preferably between 0.degree. and 150.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4049689
Abstract: In the process for the preparation of alkyl tin halides by means of direct conversion of tin with aliphatic halides, the alkyl halide is fed in such a way gradually to the gas space over the further reaction components that there is an overpressure of no more than a few cms of mercury. The reaction is carried out in the presence of a liquid acid amide in quantities of 0.65 to 2.3 mol per gramatom of tin and in the presence of catalytic amounts of iodine and/or iodide at raised temperatures. The reaction is promoted under the influence of ultraviolet irradiation and by the addition of a catalyst of the type promoting free radial initiation reactions. SUBACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThe invention relates to the preparation of alkyl tin halides by means of direct conversion of tin with aliphatic halides under the influence of liquid compounds of the acid amide type and of iodine and/or iodide as a catalyst.

  • Patent number: 4044035
Abstract: The preparation of alkyl tin halides is carried out by direct conversion of a gaseous lower aliphatic halide with a stannous halide in the presence of a nitrogenous solvent of the acid amide type at substantially atmospheric pressure. The acid amide solvent is present in quantities of approximately 1-4 mol per mol stannous halide. This reaction proceeds without the production of any trialkyl tin compounds as by-products.

  • Patent number: 4039655
Abstract: The addition of organo germanium compounds having the formulaR.sub.3 GeX or (R.sub.3 Ge).sub.2 Ywherein R is an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group and X is an anion, such as carboxylate, sulphonate, halogen or hydroxyl, and Y is oxygen, sulphur, or sulphate, to conventional agents used in oral hygiene will significantly reduce the formation of plaque on teeth and thus reduce the incidence of caries. The preferred germanium compounds are the tri-n-butyl and tri-n-pentyl. The fluoride ion is the preferred anion because of its known anti-caries properties.
