  • Patent number: 7419196
Abstract: A hinging mechanism attaching an access panel to a housing is provided that has a latching device rigidly mounted to the inner surface of the panel and releasably pivotally secured to the interior surface of the housing, whereby the panel is detachable from the housing and free to move between open and closed positions. Preferably, the mechanism further includes a linkage member movably mounted to the interior surface, whereby the mechanism has articulation at independent points between the housing and the panel. The mechanism is also preferably one where the latching device includes a latch-bracket and a latch, the latch being pivotally attached to the latch-bracket.

  • Patent number: 7284877
Abstract: An industrial light fixture of the type including a housing with a base member and a top member and containing power-related components includes spring-spacer apparatus between the base member and the ballast, such that, with the top member closed with respect to the base member, the spring-spacer apparatus biases the ballast into heat-exchange engagement with at least one surface of the top member and provides an air gap between the ballast and the base member. The base member and top member are preferably formed of die-cast metal and a variety of preferred features are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7261436
Abstract: A method for implementing lighting utilizes a lighting fixture having a plurality of lateral reflector positions, including selectively installing a first type reflector panel or a second type reflector panel in individual ones of the plurality of lateral reflector positions, the first type reflector panel having a greater uplighting capacity compared to the second type reflector panel, whereby the selectively installing determines, for the lighting fixture, a proportion of uplight versus downlight. For a plurality of tube positions disposed in a plane, a method may include vertically positioning a reflector assembly with respect to the plane. Individual reflector panels may be replaced by flexing the panel. A method may include providing a sensor switch operative to detect an occupant and connect an electrical path when the occupant is detected, and providing a selector for selecting ones of the ballasts to be connected to the electrical path by the sensor switch.

  • Patent number: 7207690
Abstract: A method, for implementing lighting by utilizing a lighting fixture having a plurality of laterally-spaced light source locations and corresponding lateral reflector positions, may include selectively installing a reflector of a first type or a second type in respective ones of the plurality of lateral reflector positions, the first type reflector having greater uplighting capacity compared to the second type reflector, whereby the selectively installing determines a proportion of uplight versus downlight. For a plurality of tube positions disposed in a plane, a method may include vertically positioning a reflector assembly with respect to the plane. • Patent number: RE40934
Abstract: The improved bollard luminaire has an upwardly directed, elliptical main reflector and a lamp “nested” within such reflector and positioned at or near its lower focal point. An upper cone-shaped reflector receives light from the main reflector and directs it laterally through a transparent lens element. Such element provides a 360° lateral light opening unobstructed by wiring, support posts or the like. Light reflected through such opening is relatively sharply focused along an axis about 70° from vertical. Unreflected light from the lamp which “misses” both reflectors also provides a degree of “uplighting,” often found useful for aesthetic purposes.
