  • Patent number: 7266978
Abstract: A knitting tool which is suitable for embodying both large and small loops has two needles (6, 7), disposed coaxially to one another, whose hooks are oriented identically. The hook of the larger needle (6) is split in two in the middle and comprises hook halves. The finer needle (7) can be driven between the two hook halves upon spreading of the two hook halves apart from one another. For selectively closing the hooks, a slide is provided, which can be brought into engagement both with the tip of the fine needle and with the tip of the coarser needle. To raise and lower the slide to the various positions of the hook tips relative to the needle back, a sliding control block may be provided. The sliding control block may be embodied on the coarse needle and the fine needle (7).

  • Patent number: 7191620
Abstract: The starting point of a new concept in a latch needle (1) is an attachment of the latch spring (22) in the sawslot (9) of the latch needle from the side of the needle back (7). For this purpose the latch needle (1) has spring-supporting pockets (19, 21) accessible from the needle back (7) or other structures adapted to receive the ends (25, 26) of the latch spring (22). The spring-supporting pockets (19, 21) are closed toward the needle back (7) at least to such an extent that the ends (25, 26) of the latch spring (22) are held in a form-locking, or at least in a captive manner in the spring-supporting pockets (19, 21). Such a latch needle has a reduced tolerance sensitivity during manufacture. The described needle concept makes possible further improvements which contribute to the operational safety and service life of the latch needle.

  • Patent number: 6860121
Abstract: A knitting tool (1), particular for high-speed knitting machines, has a shank (2) that is provided with indentations (33, 34). For embodying these indentations, the shank (2) is provided with a slit (25), which creates two legs (29, 31) spaced apart from one another. These legs are bent toward one another so that the desired indentations are created at the flanks (27, 28). The indentations serve to reduce friction and to hold oil.

  • Patent number: 6591637
Abstract: A closing device (4) is provided for closing a tube-shaped knit fabric on one end, for example for producing stockings or socks, which has plates (9) and counter-plates (13). The latter each have loop-carrying sections (18, 41), whose ends are designed to be complementary to each other and can engage each other in an interlocked manner. Here, the plates (9) have a receiving end, and the counter-plates (13) a penetrating end. The receiving end is constituted by a receiving funnel (28), formed by the ends of two legs (22, 23). These can be resiliently bent away from each other. This has the advantage that the penetrating counter-plate (13) cannot cause any damage to the plate (9) if it is moved too far in the direction toward the plate (9). There is the further advantage that in the course of the dipping movement of the needle into the free space of the plate, as well as during the relative movements between the needle and the plate, damages are almost impossible.

  • Patent number: 6357505
Abstract: Apparatus for delivering successive lowermost strip- or sheet-shaped commodities, such as labels, from a stack of commodities to a conveyor employs a rotary and reciprocable transfer member which pneumatically removes successive lowermost commodities from the stack, pneumatically attracts the commodities during transfer from the stack, and ceases to attract the commodities upon arrival at a station where the commodities are taken over by the pneumatically operated conveyor, such as an indexible or continuously driven rotary drum-shaped conveyor. The transfer member is reciprocated between the magazine and the conveyor by a reciprocable carriage which further serves to reciprocate a fluid flow regulating member acting as a valve to establish and interrupt the flow of air from one or more inlets of the transfer member to a suction generating device. The movements of various mobile constituents of the apparatus are synchronized, and such constituents can receive motion from a common prime mover.

  • Patent number: 5983600
Abstract: A label (e.g., a revenue stamp) for the application to a closed and filled hinged-lid packet for cigarettes or the like has a first part provided with an elongated weakened portion which is to overlie the abutting sloping edges of one lateral wall of the main section and the corresponding lateral panel of the lid in the closed position of the lid, and a second part overlying portions of the rear wall of the main section and of the rear panel of the lid at opposite sides of the elongated transversely extending hinge which pivotally connects the rear panel to the rear wall. The weakened portion is formed by a perforating, scoring, piercing, material removing or other suitable implement which is adjustably mounted on a support adjacent to an arcuate path for a succession of labels at the periphery of a rotary conveyor. One side of each label is coated with an adhesive subsequent to weakening and preparatory to attachment to a hinged-lid packet.
