  • Patent number: 12496154
Abstract: A robotic surgical system includes a surgical instrument defining a first longitudinal axis and a robotic surgical assembly defining a second longitudinal axis. The robotic surgical assembly includes an instrument drive unit configured for selectively receiving and driving the surgical instrument. The robotic surgical assembly defines a side opening having an insertion axis that is angled with respect to the second longitudinal axis. The surgical instrument is selectively insertable through the side opening to enable relative movement between the first longitudinal axis and the second longitudinal axis for selectively side-loading the surgical instrument into or out of engagement with the instrument drive unit.

  • Publication number: 20250235274
Abstract: A wireless communication interface is included in a surgical robotic arm and is used to detect various components of the robotic arm, including, an instrument drive unit, a sterile interface module (e.g., adapter), an instrument, an access port, etc. Detection of the components is used to confirm that each of the components are properly assembled by splitting up tag assemblies between multiple components, such that when the components are properly assembled, so are the tag assemblies, allowing for interrogation thereof by the wireless communication interface.

  • Publication number: 20240173089
Abstract: A robotic surgical system includes a robotic arm, a surgical instrument, a surgical portal, and a linear slide mechanism. The linear slide mechanism is coupled to the robotic arm and is configured to movably support the surgical portal relative to the surgical instrument. The linear mechanism can support a movable carriage and a movable rail positioned to translate relative to moveable carriage to enable a surgical instrument to move relative to movable carriage.

  • Patent number: 11666399
Abstract: A robotic surgical system includes a slide rail, a surgical instrument, and a robotic surgical assembly. The robotic surgical assembly is coupled to the slide rail and translatable along the slide rail between a first position and a second position. The robotic surgical assembly is coupled to the surgical instrument. The robotic surgical assembly, or a portion thereof, is configured to automatically rotate to a predetermined orientation relative to the slide rail when the robotic surgical assembly is disposed at the first position to enable the surgical instrument to be selectively uncoupled from the robotic surgical assembly.
