  • Patent number: 7335422
Abstract: A moisture-absorbing polymeric material is disclosed which consists of a combination of a thermoplastic material with an absorbing agent. The thermoplastic material is chosen such that when the absorbing agent is added to the thermoplastic material in the molten state and subsequently formed into a product, the absorbing agent tends to migrate towards the surface of the moisture-absorbing polymeric material to form a migration zone, wherein the absorbing agent is more highly concentrated in the surface of the polymer material than towards the interior.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 24, 2004
Date of Patent: February 26, 2008
    Assignee: Sud-Chemie Inc.
Inventors: Stefan O. Dick, Sebastien Brogly, Eric Judek, Francois Dessus
  • Patent number: 7201959
Abstract: A moisture-absorbing polymeric material is disclosed which comprises a combination of a thermoplastic material with an absorbent. The thermoplastic material is chosen such that when the absorbent is added to the thermoplastic material in the molten state, the absorbent will tend to migrate towards the surface of the moisture-absorbing polymeric material. This results in a concentration gradient for the absorbent wherein the desiccant is more highly concentrated in an outer layer of the polymer material than towards the center. In this way, more absorbent is pushed towards the surface where it can more easily absorb moisture from the surrounding atmosphere.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 24, 2002
Date of Patent: April 10, 2007
    Assignee: Sud-Chemie Inc.
    Inventors: Eric Judek, Francois Dessus
