  • Publication number: 20140330353
Abstract: The portable, wearable, proximal Alzheimer's disease treatment invention is based upon creating an RF field of particular frequencies and intensities that are applied to the patient's head. To accomplish the aforementioned disease treatment functionality, a system was invented comprising a network of antennas connected to an RF generator via a feedline connector. The invention also provides methods for using measurements to monitor and manage the effectiveness of an ongoing disease treatment regimen, and databases which contain information about measurements, variables, and their relationships to clinical outcome.

  • Publication number: 20140211959
Abstract: The present invention relates to a personal headphone device, system and method configured to combine a headphone and earbud into one acoustical product. The headphone earbud device is configured with an adaptive attachment for controlling the audio signals and/or device providing the audio signals. The adaptive connection includes an electro mechanical and/or mechanical connection so that when an earbud is placed into a headphone contact plates on the earbud mate with contact plates on the interior recess of the headphone so as to energize a loudspeaker in the headphone and or to control the device providing the audio signals.

  • Publication number: 20130224804
Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to a method for increasing the production of a desired product having: identifying a steady state metabolic pathway for the synthesis of a desired product from a desired substrate; producing a polynucleotide encoding one or more polypeptide that participates in the steady state metabolic pathway for the synthesis of the desired product from the desired substrate; introducing the polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide into a host cell; transforming a host cell with an expression vector having an expressible polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide; and cultivating the host cell under a culture condition that induces the production of the desired product.

  • Patent number: 8250397
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of history information as an aid to synchronization in a peer-to-peer system. In particular, node trees are used to represent portions of files systems designated for synchronization. The nodes in the node tree embody history information regarding associated objects. The history information includes version vectors that are used to simplify synchronization-related comparisons and create job lists that may be used to bring participating peers into synchronization.

  • Patent number: 7864131
Abstract: A versatile wire antenna that can be up to 80 percent shorter than traditional wire antennas—while still providing exceptional operating characteristics. The present invention is also more durable than traditional wire antennas, offers broadband and multi-band performance, eliminates tension on the wire components, does not require inductive elements, does not require end insulators or transmission-line feed-point insulators, has low noise characteristics, and offers the potential for significant static-discharge capability. Also disclosed is a method for constructing the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20050171737
Abstract: A method and apparatus performs a security analysis on a computer system to identify, notify, and possibly correct, vulnerabilities and discrepancies. The security system includes a number of security tools and utilities in order to perform these functions. The security system includes the capability to identify the system configuration and once this is done performs different processes to analyze the computer system directories, locate vulnerabilities in the files or directories, check the network access, do analysis of the users or groups which have access to the computer system and check the permissions which these parties have been granted, and analyze passwords of the users. The utilities include the functionality to permanently remove files from the computer system, mark particular files to be analyzed, as well as schedule the security tests to be performed at predetermined times.

  • Patent number: 5450810
Abstract: An underwater communication device that is simple in design, is simple to operate, is powered solely by a user's wrist action, has only one moving part, is maintenance free, can offer multiple modes of operation, can be made resistant to accidental sound generation, can be made neutrally buoyant, offers a wide margin of safety and reliability, and enables underwater communication up to 100 feet between scuba divers. The underwater communication device including a striker rod, a tubular housing and a support and guide member. The support and guide member supporting the rod in the housing. Communicating underwater with the underwater communication device by the steps of grasping the device approximately along its midpoint, and rapidly rocking or shaking the device from side to side or end to end, causing the endpoints of the striker rod to strike an inner surface of the housing, creating a sound that is readily propagated through the water.

  • Patent number: 5251749
Abstract: An interlocking storage system for different types of electronic or magnetic recording media, including compact discs and cassette tapes. A standard size module is provided which can accommodate and store one standard dual compact disc box and one single compact disc box, three single compact disc boxes or two standard audio cassette boxes. Alternatively, other selected electronic recording media may be stored. The user selects releasable left and right side elements which securely compartmentalize the selected recording media within the module. This module provides both a horizontal and vertical interlocking means so that users may utilize numerous modules which are interconnected in both the vertical and horizontal direction to form a free-standing modular cabinet or storage system for their home entertainment collection.

  • Patent number: 4854572
Abstract: A physical training accessory comprises a garment or harness for securing the accessory to the body of a wearer, and a gatherable sail which is either permanently or detachably attached to the garment or harness. The sail, which may be comprised of any suitable gatherable material, is so fashioned that ground locomotion of the wearer, e.g., walking, running, skiing or skating, deploys the sail from a slack condition to a billowed condition, which increases air resistance which must be overcome by the wearer to continue the ground locomotion and so provides a valuable, extremely lightweight and compact training device. Fasteners may be provided to hold the sail in the slack condition for those times when the wearer does not wish to sustain the added air-resistance provided by the billowed sail.
