    Abstract: A retractable retention device for use to stow away an equipment tether or leash that is used to satisfy sports equipment, such as snowboarding and snow skating, safety regulations. The retractable retention device includes means to secure the retraction mechanism and retractable cord to equipment and user, and an internal energy source capable of allowing extension and retraction of the retractable cord. The retractable retention device can be attached to or designed into personal clothing articles, boots, binding, and other sports equipment.
