Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a method for determining a location of a person or object within a space. The method includes obtaining, by one or more computing device, data from one or more sensor devices associated with one or more connected devices located within the space. The method further includes generating, by the one or more computing devices, metadata indicative of presence of the person or object within the space based, at least in part, on the data. The method further includes obtaining, by the one or more computing device, data indicative of a user request associated with obtaining a location of the person or object within the space. The method further includes determining, by, the one or more computing devices, the location of the person or object based, at least in part, on the metadata.

The sensor also may be configured to communicate with an internal or external computer system, thereby facilitating showing the detected information as a representation via a display element. In certain embodiments, the system may include an action element such as an open/close lid opening assembly configured to permit automatically or manually opening or closing a drink aperture or another type of dispensing aperture.

Abstract: A digital swimmer safety system has a programmable radio communications device, such as a smart phone, in communication with a personal radio transmitter on a swimmer. The communications device established a digital connection with the radio transmitter and starts a timer if the signal is lost. The signal may be lost due to submergence of the transmitter in water. If the timer exceeds a threshold, then an alert is displayed. The communications device is configured to continue monitoring the swimmer in background mode so that the user of the device can run another app. The system can be configured so that multiple swimmers can be monitored by the same communications device and different threshold times can be set for each swimmer depending upon their swimming ability.
