  • Patent number: 9878801
Abstract: A console assembly for use on a flight deck of an aircraft includes, but is not limited to, a console having a recess. The recess has an opening. The console assembly further includes a mounting assembly mounted within the recess. The console assembly further includes a support surface mounted to the mounting assembly. The console assembly further includes a closeout panel that is mounted to the support surface. The support surface fits within the recess. The mounting assembly facilitates movement of the support surface between a retracted and a deployed position. The support surface is disposed within the recess while in the retracted position and outside of the recess while in the deployed position. The closeout panel is disposed at a location on the support surface that causes the closeout panel to close the opening of the recess when the support surface is in the retracted position.

  • Publication number: 20170334562
Abstract: A latch system that includes a paddle button assembly having a button that is movable between home and actuation positions, a latch assembly that includes a striker assembly with a striker and a hook assembly, and a cable that extends between the paddle button and latch assemblies. The hook assembly includes a hook, a pivotal trigger arm, and a manual override switch that is movable between first and second positions when the trigger arm is moved from an engaged position to a disengaged position. Movement of the button from the home position to the actuation position pushes or pulls the cable, thereby pivoting the trigger arm from the engaged to the disengaged position and disengaging the hook from the striker. Pivotal movement of the trigger arm from the engaged to the disengaged position results in linear movement of the manual override switch from the first to the second position.

  • Publication number: 20170260712
Abstract: A vault system is provided that secures a brace to the underside of a vault lid to improve the performance of the lid when the lid is subject to external loads. The vault has guiding features to receive a brace and place the brace in a particular position. Then, a vault lid is pressed into the vault, and tabs on the vault lid deflect into receiving portions on the ends of the brace to secure the brace to the vault lid. The resulting vault lid is reinforced with a brace. In some embodiments, the guiding feature comprises a rib in a recess in the brace, and in various embodiments, the tabs have an arm and a hook disposed on a distal end of the arm. The tab arms deflect to fit around the end of the brace, then an undercut on the hook secures the brace to the lid.

  • Patent number: 9731827
Abstract: A aircraft storage bin latch system that includes a paddle button assembly having a button that is movable between home and actuation positions, a latch assembly that includes a striker assembly with a striker and a hook assembly, and a cable that extends between the paddle button assembly and the latch assembly. The hook assembly includes a hook, a pivotal trigger arm, and an indicator that is movable between first and second positions when the trigger arm is moved from an engaged position to a disengaged position. Movement of the button from the home position to the actuation position pushes or pulls the cable, thereby pivoting the trigger arm from the engaged position to the disengaged position and disengaging the hook from the striker. Pivotal movement of the trigger arm from the engaged position to the disengaged position results in linear movement of the indicator from the first position to the second position.

Abstract: An aircraft storage bin that includes an upper housing and a bucket movable with respect to the upper housing between a closed position and an open position. The upper housing and the bucket cooperate to define a bin interior. The bucket includes a bottom and first and second opposing side walls. The bottom of the bucket includes an outer surface, an inner surface, a front edge, and first and second protrusions protruding into the bin interior. The first protrusion defines a first luggage engaging surface and the second protrusion defines a second luggage engaging surface. The first protrusion includes an inner surface and an outer surface that defines a channel. The channel includes at least a portion of a latch button assembly disposed therein. The first and second cables extend outwardly from the latch button assembly and through the channel. The bucket includes a cover further partially defining the channel.

  • Publication number: 20170207046
Abstract: A switch system that includes a switch assembly with a housing having a bottom surface that includes a latch pocket defined therein. The latch pocket includes a top surface and the housing defines an interior that includes either a magnetic switch or a magnet disposed therein. One of the magnetic switch or magnet is positioned adjacent the top surface of the latch pocket in the other is associated with the distal end of latch bolt. The system also includes a latch bolt. When the latch bolt is in the unlatched position it is not received in the latch pocket, the magnetic switch is in the first state and an electrical component is in a first state. When the latch bolt is in the latched position it is received in the latch pocket, the magnetic switch is in the second state and the electrical component is switched to a second state.

  • Publication number: 20170163018
Abstract: A vault system is provided that defines an enclosed volume to protect various electrical, water, communications and other components. The system comprises a lid to allow selective access to the contents in the enclosed volume of the vault. Over time, continued wear and tear on the lid of the vault can cause the lid to deflect inward and/or cause the body of the vault to deflect outward, which compromises the integrity of the vault. Interlock features, methods, and systems are provided transfer stress and strain between the lid and the vault, which maintain the integrity of the selective interconnection between the lid and the vault.
