The electronic image may be displayed on a high-definition flat display screen and manipulated to appear as a work of art via a layered material. Embodiments include processing the electronic image to provide an electronically pre-filtered image, displaying the pre-filtered image on a display screen, and physically filtering the displayed, pre-filtered image with the layered material to reduce light emission, add texturing, and enhance the passage of a wavelength of light.
