Abstract: The invention relates to a method for assessing the performance of a motion simulator. The method comprises the steps: (a) select a performance criterion; (b) determine a weighing function, representing the sensitivity of an average user for the performance criterion selected in step (a) as function of motion frequency; (c) have the motion simulator simulate a motion test signal; (d) compare the simulated motion produced by the simulator during step (c) with the motion test signal, so as to obtain a deviation signal; (e) multiply this deviation signal with the weighing function of step (b); and (f) compute the area underneath the signal obtained from step (e) so as to obtain a performance indicator. The invention furthermore relates to a system for assessing the performance of a motion simulator.
