    Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for managing a routing information base that is adapted to store information regarding potential data routes within an internetworking device operating in conjunction with a plurality of routing protocols. Potential routes for a specified destination are stored in the routing information base. The routing protocols are notified of changes to only those routes for which the routing protocols have previously registered for notification.
