Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing sheet material from one or more rolls of sheet material is provided. The dispenser includes a housing having an interior volume so as to retain a first roll of sheet material and a dispensing mechanism disposed within the housing to dispense sheet material. The dispensing mechanism including a drive roller and a pressure roller biased against the drive roller forming a nip through which sheet material is dispensed. The pressure roller includes a plurality of ribs with at least one of the plurality of ribs having a concave portion, such that during rotation of the pressure roller at least a portion of the rib is not in contact with the drive roller. Methods for dispensing sheet material are also provided.

Abstract: A roll retaining device for dispensing sheet material from one or more rolls of sheet material is provided. The roll retaining device includes a core plug configured to be placed in a core of a roll of sheet material, an arm having a first end and a second end; a core plug mating device coupled to the first end of the arm. The core plug mating device comprising an annular surface and protrusion extending from the annular surface. A cavity is disposed in the protrusion and includes an annular rib. The protrusion includes an end surface disposed away from the annular surface. The protrusion has an outer wall with a first portion of the outer wall having a first slope that is less than a second slope of a second portion of the outer wall. Dispensers and methods for dispensing sheet material are also disclosed.

Abstract: A drop assembly for a paper product dispenser is provided that transitions an upper carriage for a second roll of paper product into a primary or first position after depletion of a first or primary roll of paper product without user intervention. The drop assembly transitions the upper carriage into approximately the same position previously occupied by the lower carriage, allowing a small aperture in a front face of a dispenser to be used. Additionally, the drop assembly can include a reset connection to transition the drop assembly back to the firsts position upon opening of a dispenser front face.
