  • Patent number: 11955017
Abstract: Example embodiments are directed to generating an optimized network of flight paths and an operations volume around each of these flight paths. A network system creates a source network of paths, whereby the source network comprises a set of possible paths between two locations. The network system assigns a cost for traversing each edge of each path of the source network and aggregates the cost for traversing each edge of each path to obtain a cost for each path of the source network. Based on the cost for each path, the network system identifies a path having the lowest cost, whereby the path having the lowest cost is the optimized route between the two locations. The network system then generates an operations volume for the optimized route. The operations volume represents airspace surrounding the optimized route. The operations volume is transmitted to a further system for use.

  • Publication number: 20240051679
Abstract: Systems and methods for battery-based aircraft performance are provided. An example computer-implemented method includes accessing, by a computing system, flight plan data for a first flight. Based on the flight plan data, the computing system can compute a first expected power demand on the aircraft's battery system for the first flight. The computing system can access initial battery state data of the aircraft. The computing system can compute, using a battery model, a first capability output based the first expected power demand and the initial battery state. The first capability output can be indicative of a range/ToF of the aircraft for the first flight. The computing system can determine an ability of the aircraft to perform the first flight based on the first capability output and generate an itinerary accordingly. The computing system can transmit, over a network, instructions associated with implementing the itinerary for performance by the aircraft.

  • Publication number: 20230339356
Abstract: A method provides a supply current (303) for high-voltage consumers (114), in which a battery-electric vehicle has a charging power unit with a high-voltage intermediate circuit (110) for charging a high-voltage battery (102). The high-voltage intermediate circuit (110) includes a high-capacity charging device (106), at least one bi-directional power output stage (112a, 112b) having a connection to the high-voltage battery (102), and at least one high-voltage consumer (114). The high-voltage intermediate circuit (110) has a high intermediate circuit capacity at least through the charging device (106). The bi-directional power output stage (112, 112b) is actuated with a pulse width modulation, and, through the at least one bi-directional power output stage (112a, 112b), a supply current (303) is provided from the high-voltage battery (102) to the high-voltage consumer (114) via the high-voltage intermediate circuit (110). The supply current (303) is smoothed due to the high intermediate circuit capacity.

  • Patent number: 11694557
Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments for employing off board sensors to augment data used by a ground based autonomous vehicle. In some aspects, the off-board sensors may be positioned on another autonomous vehicle, such as an aerial autonomous vehicle (AAV). The disclosed embodiments determine uncertainty scores associated with ground regions. The uncertainty scores indicate a need to reimage the ground regions. An AAV may be tasked to reimage a region having a relatively high uncertainty score, depending on a cost associated with the tasking.

  • Patent number: 11256587
Abstract: A method of failure detection in a storage system is performed by the storage system. The method includes detecting a failure in a nonvolatile random access memory device that is in or coupled to a storage device having storage memory. The storage system has multiple NVRAM devices and multiple storage devices that have storage memory. The method includes taking a portion or all of the NVRAM device offline. Taking a portion or all of the NVRAM device offline is responsive to detecting the failure. Taking a portion or all of the NVRAM device off-line is while keeping online the storage memory of the storage device, sufficient ones of the NVRAM devices, and sufficient ones of the storage devices to provide reliable access to data and metadata in the storage system.

  • Publication number: 20210374627
Abstract: Example embodiments are directed to providing periodic vertiport usage and capacity data exchange, A cloud service system generates, based on historical data, a flight operation set that comprises a simulation of flight operations for time buckets in the future, where the simulation of flight operations include transportation services between vertiports. The system then receives, within a predetermined time period of the time buckets, real-time data including weather forecasts and actual demand for transportation services. The real-time data is analyzed to determine any deviations from the flight operation set for the time buckets. The system then presents the flight operation set including any deviations. Additionally, the system receives, after the time buckets has passed, real-time data indicating actual flight operations, compares the real-time data to the flight operation set to identify deltas, and provides the deltas as feedback to refine the generating of future flight operation sets.

  • Publication number: 20210375142
Abstract: Example embodiments are directed to systems and methods for providing cloud service to an onboard aerial vehicle system, A cloud service system accesses a flight related data. Using the flight related data, the cloud service system generates flight operations in a format of an avionics system on an aerial vehicle. A communication link is established over a communication network between the cloud service system and the aerial vehicle and the generated flight operations is transmitted to the aerial vehicle as digital data sent as data packets. The cloud service system then monitors, in real time, the aerial vehicle during a flight, wherein the monitoring comprises receiving and storing in-flight data from the aerial vehicle and the in-flight data is data reconstructed from a plurality of data packets received from the aerial vehicle. The cloud service system determines, based on the received in-flight data, whether to update the flight operations.

Abstract: A system includes a laser welder and a filler wire feed. The laser welder is configured to weld a workpiece to at least one additional workpiece to form a welded assembly. Each of the workpieces is formed from a steel material and comprises an aluminum based coating thereon. The filler wire feed is configured to feed a filler wire to an interface between the workpieces when the workpieces are being welded to each other to form the welded assembly. The filler wire comprises a composition that includes nickel and chromium. The filler wire is configured to bind with aluminum in the aluminum based coating so as to minimize formation of brittle intermetallics due to mixing of the aluminum in the aluminum based coating with the iron/steel material in the weld joint.
