  • Publication number: 20160275993
Abstract: A storage device includes a first portion including drive media, and a second portion. The second portion includes a first end wall that is in physical communication with first and second side walls, and a second end wall that is in physical communication with the first and second side walls. The second portion also includes a printed circuit board mounted within the cavity, a plurality of ribs within the cavity, and an air channel within the cavity. The air channel has a lower air flow impedance than other portions of the storage device including the first portion, the printed circuit board, and the ribs. The air channel extends along a direction between the first end wall and the second end wall of the storage device.

  • Patent number: 9377828
Abstract: An adjustable heat sink which allows factory, service, or customers to adjust the width of the heat sink to take advantage of some or all available unpopulated DIMM space to optimize cooling and performance. Such an adjustable heat sink addresses many of the limitations of other heat sinks and is advantageous for reducing part numbers within a platform and across platforms. Such an adjustable heat sink also simplifies field upgrades when either adding or removing populated DIMMs to an information handling system thus enhancing performance without a need to change CPU Heat sinks.

  • Publication number: 20160179145
Abstract: A power supply unit includes a handle and a power cord. The handle is connected to a panel of the power supply unit via a first leg and a second leg. The handle is configured to provide a location for a user to grip while removing the power supply unit from an information handling system. The power cord includes a first end coupled to the handle, and a second end including a power socket. A first wire of the power cord extends into the power supply unit via the first leg, and a second wire of the power cord extends into the information handling system via the second leg.

  • Publication number: 20140192475
Abstract: A system and method of controlling a cooling fan in an information handling system is disclosed. A fan request signal is received from a component of an information handling system and a determination is made regarding whether the component is configured to operate with a cooling fan. If the component is configured to operate with the cooling fan, the fan request signal is transmitted to the cooling fan. If, on the other hand, the component is not configured to operate with the cooling fan, a revised fan request signal is generated and transmitted to the cooling fan.
