  • Publication number: 20210115483
Abstract: Provided herein are transparent bacterial-derived cellulose-based materials having a light transmission of at least 50% of light energy having a wavelength between 400 nm and 600 nm. In some embodiments, such materials can be prepared by a method comprising culturing cellulose-producing bacteria in a media comprising a non-glucose carbon source and collecting cellulose-based material produced by the cellulose-producing bacteria, wherein the cellulose-based material has a light transmission of at least 50% of light energy having a wavelength between 400 nm and 600 nm.
